Actually I don't get the comparison at all other then both studios make great games. Otherwise their games are nothing alike (which is great). The labels are unnecessary going both ways.
Funny because it is clear that Nintendo is being admired for their adaptability, which to some gamers nowadays is not something they believe represents Nintendo. But I'm sure it does. Since Nintendo has existed for years they have been in a number of industries and not just gaming. Everything thinks Nintendo is doomed, but in reality I think it is more likely that Nintendo will move completely into a new business before they would ever go 3rd party.

I notice you conveniently left off the fps of those games which is much more relevant for any gamer who actually ENJOYS playing games. Clearly this author is just trying to have a bit of fun, but it is also sad to see they can't articulate each group without coming up with some assumptions rather than pointing out the real psychological hurdles of someone who loves one console and hates all others. In a perfect world gamers would debate on games not consoles.

I wonder why everyone talks about how games look before they talk about how they play as well. There are a ton of wii u games that have tight controls and run 60fps. Maybe it is because I try to play more competitively but games could run at 720p for the rest of time for all I care as long as controls stay tight and gameplay is fluid.
When did a systems true potential ever show up in the first year? The Last of Us is proof of what can happen when devs know a system inside and out. Not saying that the Wii U is gonna be a killer in gfx, but your comment makes it sound like you have only been playing video games for a year or something.
It depends on what you consider redemption. Nintendo needs to simply focus on supporting the wii u and keep it from bringing a ton of losses to the company, but I think they too realize that it is not gonna be a top seller this time around. Lol so go into any random store, sing the theme from Super Mario Bros. level 1-1, and watch how everyone knows the theme. Mario is rooted in most people's knowledge, even if everyone isn't a fan of the games. So no these characters don't need to go anywhere just because YOU don't like them.
