"Why settle for JUST amazing game play when you can have both amazing game play and amazing stories?"
I don't think it is that black and white. It really depends on the game and the person. I don't want every game to have a complex story. Just like games like beyond two souls don't have thriving gameplay and people still enjoy them. It is great when a game can have good story and gameplay but doing both doesn't make it a better game. It is all about...
I wouldn't say that Nintendo is the only company that can make fun experiences. They have made some of my favorites but I wouldn't want them to be the only ones doing it. I do believe that Nintendo as a company will be around for a long time and just might outlive the Sony and Microsoft that we know today. I don't think that means anything about the consoles out now, but rather the state of gaming in 10-20 years and how even if Nintendo were to stop making video games they would s...
Miyamoto already confirmed to be working on one. Also new IP does not necessarily mean innovation and risk. If you don't consider the gamepad to be a risky move by nintendo then I don't know what you would. It was a bet that could've gone better if they marketed the focus and taken more times to show use in games, but overall is was a bet that they were destined to lose. Now they can take the hit and try harder to be fully prepared next time.
lol wasn't it supposed to be make or break last year too? the wii u is definitely doing poorly in sales, but everyone is also being very melodramatic. I think all 3 will have a good games showing this year, but the games that I must have have already been announced for each console (Smash bros., Mariokart, KH3, FFXV, Halo 5) so now it is just a matter of getting release dates for some of those titles. Anything else that is announced or coming is just icing on the cake.
it makes me wonder why you bothered to even reply to him because it wasn't really a response and you seemed to completely miss the nuances of his comment
I would agree. I own all 3 and I'm loving it right now. There are so many gamers who think they are winning but are not. The ones who are bitter when their console doesn't sell well. The ones who claim the sales victory of their console of choice as their own. The ones who disregard a console based on hearsay and don't decide for themselves. The real winners are those of us who play what we like on whatever console we like without letting the media driven "console war" g...
The fact that there are disagrees to this shows what is wrong with gamers. If he/she enjoys games on all consoles and that bothers you, then it sounds like a personal problem for you all.
Strange plan? If you mean the 3DS version is finished first and Sakurai isn't the kind of douche that would hold off a game from fans just for more commercial success, then yeah that is a strange plan...
ignorance is bliss I suppose. Hicken has the right idea.
Just for understanding are you replying in agreement or no? It sounds like we are on the same page and you brought up some great points to go along with each one I made.
Three big assumptions that are wrong in this article.
1. The versions will have different material so it isn't so black and white to say that they will cannibalize each other's sales unless they are uneducated and assume they are the exact same.
2. The author assumes that everyone would prefer to play on 3DS which even though it undoubtedly has a much larger install base, any gamer who is half decent at smash should be concerned about the fact that t...
Not sure what the disagree is for. Mariokart wii sold almost twice as much as the highest PS2 game, and considering the PS2 sold 50+ million more units it is safe to say no game is gonna compare to mariokart wii at the moment.
holy elitism batman!
Actually Nintendo seems to be moving games pretty well for its install base. Just not 3rd party games. There aren't that many more wii u titles out than ps4/x1 and Nintendo has still moved 1.5-2x the software even after being over taken by hardware which is impressive considering 3rd party has not sold well so those sales are a lot of Nintedo and indies. You are absolutely right that x1/ps4 are moving consoles at a faster rate, but to say they are moving way more GAMES may not be as accur...
I think they already learned that lesson as they announce the handhled and console architectures will be like brothers moving forward for compatibility between the two.
How is this a rumor? Didn't Aonuma already say that is when they would show it?
Funny how many gamers play sales and not games. I'm getting both versions mostly because they will each have exclusive features and I just love smash that much. If they chose to hold back the 3DS version even though it is done then that would make Sakurai and Nintendo look like douches to keep a game from the fans just because of the possibility that it means more money for them. I'm cool with delaying a game to make it better, but I'm absolutely not cool with delaying a finished ...
There are already several differences between the two with more to still be revealed. I would agree with you if they were the exact same but they are not.
Yeah notice even though Nintendo didn't say anything of the sort, this author forces the terms hardcore and casual into another spot where they don't belong.
I think the problem is with the "modern gamer" more than anything. The modern gamer is more focused on the hardware performance and the gratification that comes with sales of that platform than the actual enjoyment of their games. They have a less diverse game taste in a world where there are more genres than ever before. They continually try to get as much as they can for as little as they can rather than expand their libraries in order to appreciate good games on any platform. As ...
