Many of the games on this list are of low quality -- which goes a long way to show that, if you have a sub-par team, you might have more trouble on the PS3. I dunno if that's really a drawback.

I'm a little surprised that games like GTA and RDR are sub-HD on the PS3... but they are the using the same engine, so I guess it's not that surprising that if one is sub-HD, they are both sub-HD. Perhaps their engine is just too 360-specific to work as well on the PS3. ...

I love it when these kinds of articles use US-only NPD data to support their claims.

I suppose when those graphs begin to look bad, these kinds of articles might use graphs from the Redmond, WA (Microsoft HQ) branches of GameStop or something.

Cross-Game chat keeps you from using the PS3 as your main online console?

I don't understand why losing something you never paid for, but still have the option to pay for at any time, is an issue.

If you get a game for free, and then your subscription ends, but you still want the game, shouldn't you buy it, or renew your subscription? You get loads of discounts, free DLC (which you get to keep), free things like avatars, themes, etc. plus this "rental" service, which is basically the cheapest rental service in the universe.

WInd Waker is better than OoT and MM. That includes the GameCube collectors versions of those games, which I played over again when I scored the collector's copy of WW.

WW is the best Zelda to date. Only nostalgia keeps OoT above it in the "top N of all time" lists. And OoT is not the best game of all time. Man I don't know why anyone thinks that. Almost every Mario game ever made have been better than the Zelda games of the same time period.

Um. The PSP screen size is 480x272, not 720x480.

Your other assumptions are equally as nutty, IMO.

Um... GameStop alone said $2.39B of their income was from used... Thats ONE retailer, and its still more than this report claims.

Also, note the fishy disparity between the number of trade-ins, vs the percentage of used games sales and revenue. If 42% of new games are traded-in, and GameStop's used revenue is 45% vs 25% for new...

Also, those NPD numbers include PC retail, MMO subscription fees, and crap like Farmville micropurchases -- none of which fac...

The coolest part about most of these games is that they also include standard controller support. That choice is something neither the Wii or Kinect can really lay claim to -- Monster Hunter Tri *requires* a classic controller, and Metroid Prime Wii *requires* the Wiimote. Afaik, no multi-control-option Kinect games have even been announced yet.

Sony didn't forcibly remove the OtherOS feature. Unless you voluntarily opted to upgrade your firmware, you should still have it.

PSN access is also voluntary, and Sony can shut down PSN anytime they like. Everyone who uses it signed an agreement stating that they will abide by those terms.

Why do people think the Navigation controller is a necessity, particularly with local multiplayer titles?

At most, most gamers will not desire more than 1 Navigation controller, ever. No matter how many Moves they own. It's something of a single-player add-on, much like the nunchuk..

If you wanted a two-player Move experience, and the full single player Move experience it would cost you $99.99 (Move + cam + game), plus another Move ($49.99), plus a Nav ...

Flight sticks, and driving wheels, are needed for cool games though, because they emulate real-world control devices.

Kinda different with Kinect, since the games seem like they might be cooler if they weren't so limited by the functionality of the device. It's like a human being interpretation, specifically without the ability to use a cool control device, because that would defeat the purpose of control-free gaming. Kinda backwards?

I don't think MS should sell expensive hardware at a loss, just to appease 360 fanboys. I approve of the Kinect price point, and wish MS luck in milking the 360 crowd with it, just like they did with HD-DVD. Rabid Kinect owners are more than welcome to fund serious game development by giving their hard-earned $$$ to MS. God maybe MS will buy some first party studios...

If it does well, they might actually expand the software demographics to include the hardcore, by pro...

I agree, PS+ rules. Heck I almost subscribed to Qore a bunch of times, and now I get it for free? That was half the cost of PS+ right there.

With all the other stuff I've gotten already, I don't think there'll be an issue getting at least another $20 out of it by this time 14 months from now. LoL @ people who think Plus subscribers aren't getting their money's worth.

I actually think all they need to do is update the Wii to a Wii HD in a couple years, which is very close to the specs of the current HD consoles.

If they do that, they will *instantly* have the attention of EVERY publisher who already has engines made for machines with *exactly* that grade of horsepower -- solving the Nintendo 3rd party issue, and giving them time to innovate yet again, while selling (by then) cheap hardware for a profit, like they always have.

This is a great update, because Gravity Crash is a _supurb_ game. I'm scoring the PSP one today.

To my knowledge, all the 2-4 player games do not need anything but the Move itself, and you can use the PS3 controller as a substitute... basically invalidating any price comparison which includes the Nav controller. Why don't people ever seem to take into consideration the fact that, if there were 2-player Move games which could benefit from a navigation controller, that they would be *good* games, as opposed to casual junk.

You know, like co-op real games, which are pr...

The PS3, in being a HD platform, is more resistant to shovelware than the Wii. I'm sure there will be some poor games, based on license property ports from the Wii, but... I think the shovelware bar is high enough that there's not much to worry about, really.

Franchise handoffs never work.

Well.. unless the franchise has already reached rock bottom (e.g. Tomb Raider, when handed off by Core Design to Crystal Dynamics).

The PSP is great. Thank you Sony for making handheld gaming worth it for me.

Looking forward to everything PSP in the future, whether it be a PSP2, or nothing more than some cool new games for the PSP1.
