3DS appreciators will be more interested in 3D TVs, its true. The 3DS is like a walking 3DTV advert.

On top of that, the 3DS, with specs so close to the PSP, will basically become an extension of PSP development for 3rd parties, until it outnumbers the PSP, at which point the PSP will still be the crossplat buddy of the 3DS... if it still hasn't been overshadowed by a PSP2 by the time the 3DS sells 60 million units. The PSP may live on for eons through the 3DS, simply b...

Achievements are only really cool because you can share and compare with your pals online.

Since the Wii doesn't even have a friends list (at least not an easily accessible one), having trophWiis or Wiichievments wouldn't be much of an addition to the system.

Umm.. cloaking devices.

The news reports about them describe them as being goofy camera-->screen tech that looks like a giant monkey suit and doesn't really work too well, unless the person is totally stationary and a looong way away.

Some tech just never goes anywhere, you know. It doesn't *all* pan out better and workable in the end.

Wait... Do MoH rivals CoD and BF:BC have prone? About the only modern shooters I can even think of with a prone mode are SOCOM and MAG.

Wasn't the "extra" in the PS3 limited edition an upconverted HD Medal of Honor from the PS2? I don't think the 360 is getting PS2 emulation anytime soon... although I suppose its possible that they might have rebuilt the game from scratch on the 360, and just included a 2nd disc with for the limited edition.

In any case, the "two years" they are referring to is the development time on the Valhalla 45nm combo CPU/GPU chip -- not the rest of the box. That's a perfectly reasonable timeframe for such a chip, given the relatively small team likely assigned to it.

I know its relatively unrelated, but for some reason, this makes me wonder if the XBox 720 will just ship with a Kinect as an input device, and you'll have to buy a "classic" controller for an ext...

I'd love to read this article, but I get one of those JavaScript "Fake Virus Alert" rootkit viruses every few visits to VGChartz, and the site is painful to navigate with JS turned off.

Can anyone braver than I post the relevant details?

@raztad: Nope. True 1080p, for games with the complex shader ops of shooters like KZ3, will have to wait for next-gen. When it comes down to it, the GPU has to do the shader work and fill the screen buffers, and the SPUs can't really help there.

The memory concerns gravesg mentions are also an issue.

Just means there's room for PS4 someday. =)

I agree. Publishers should offer their own (better than GS) trade-in programs if you bypass retail and buy direct. Without the retail cut, the publisher would make more money even with the trade-ins.

Then, give (for FREE) the traded-in games to used retailers who sign a contract which pays royalties each time they sell a contracted title (which they received for free in the first place). Used retailers will pop up like cockroaches, with no serious startup costs, publishers...

Looking forward to this one.

The publishers should band together and refuse to sell games to retailers who purchased used game copies at less than the same % they purchased the game from the publisher from in the first place. Example... GameStop buys new at 35, sells for 60? GameStop should be FORCED to purchase used titles at the same 35/60 percentage they intend to sell the game at, in order to maintain the new item's value. If they want to sell the game for $30, they should have to buy it from the consumer at $...

This would be the retailer giving part of their earnings from the used sale to the publisher -- it has nothing to do with you, the consumer.

Single player games, like RPGs, stay high-priced as used titles for a very long while, by nature. Its because only new sales reward the developers of those games -- which turn over and over in the used bin at retail, that we, as gamers, never see decent JRPGs anymore. The developers only see a small fraction of what they should, from t...

There's nothing wrong with buying used games.

What's wrong is that the used retailers keep ALL of the profits from used sales, and don't distribute a fair percentage to the original publishers.

Video games != music. The cost-to-make/purchase price ratio is much much more in favor of the consumer. Developers/Publishers honestly barely scrape by on their earnings, relative to other media industries, unless the income is from a digital source (like...

OMG.

If NIS, Atlus, or Namco/Bandai ever freaking step up to the plate in the West with some serious turn-based RPGs, I, and many other western gamers, will be all over them. S-E is really missing the boat here. Its a shame that turn-based means "SRPG" to these publishers. SRPGs are fun, but they are WAY too formula/mission-based, and linear.

There is a SERIOUS market vacuum for true turn-based RPG games (non-SRPG) right now. I am getting TIRED ...

Wait, wait... $1bn divided by $50/year for XBL Gold... is only 20 million subscribers max, if no one bought any games from XBL, or rented movies?

I suppose many of those subscriptions actually cost around $40, but this $1bn also includes XBLA game sales, and movie rentals, presumably. I would guesstimate that less than 10 million XBL subscribers actually pay for Gold, if $1bn is the total for XBL subscriptions, game purchases, movie purchases, etc. Heck, it might be closer ...

GTA IV shouldn't be on there. Neither should SF IV.

MAG and MLB '09 should be, however. MAG requires an unbelievable time investment (although they recently made it less painful), and MLB '09.. well.. its just insane.

If waiting longer makes the console cheaper upon release, but still the best, then... more power to them?

Honestly, if Sony had waited another year on the PS3, and put a 8800 GT in it (instead of the 7800 GTX the RSX effectively is), the PS3 would be skyrocketing past the 360 right about now.
