Sadly, his statement is more true than most would like to believe... although not in the way he's thinking, I think.

Low-power chips are the future, not only because battery tech hasn't improved in eons, but because in the near future (I'm talking like 20 years here), power (electricity, which will be in high demand once oil starts to run dry) is going to cost you a freaking fortune, thanks to huge demand, and not enough supply.

Its entirely possi...

Kinect would be *perfect* for a GTA style game.. played in 2nd person, as opposed to 3rd.

You jump out of the way of oncoming vehicles driven by the main villain/protogonist, you hold your hands up during a robbery, etc.

Every business strategy has its ups and downs. I'm sure charging for online play looked like a good idea at the beginning of this gen, and its certainly squeezed a lot of money out of 360 owners, for something that's largely identical and free on PSN (I'm talking online play here).

...we'll see how it turns out by the end of the gen.

I wonder if this will become more of an issue if Kinect dance games become popular? Lots of movin around, some floor shaking and loud music... Vertical 360s don't take much bumping before the laser gets a wee bit too close for comfort.

Lair was great. I would buy Lair 2 in a heartbeat, because it wouldn't be plagued by early release issues. The PS3 has like 30MB more memory now (due to OS reductions), sixaxis support is improved (and I actually enjoyed the sixaxis play!), things like MLAA have become the rage on the SPUs (yielding more GPU horsepower for other things), 1080p just plain isn't necessary (Lair ran at 1080p!)... Lair 2 would rock.

So would Heavenly Sword 2, for that matter. This arti...

Um. No words. Awesome? I love little innovative titles like this.

2nd person?

So... you're the guy getting shot by the main protagonist, over and over again?

That's pretty... interesting. =) I have a feeling it wouldn't sell either... maybe to a select crowd.

I don't understand. The attach rate for games on the PS3 should be approximately half the 360, if you look at the raw hardware numbers. Yet the PS3:360 attach ratio is about 2:3, which is a lot higher than the 1:2 hardware ratio between the two consoles in the US, where NPD reports.

Shouldn't these new 360s sold account for some serious software spikes as well? Why would someone buy a console, but not any software for it? Newer 360 owners more likely to be thrifty...

For $10, I may have to pick it up! ...on PSN though.

The new mode is pretty fun, and the faction neutrality of the sabo maps will basically add maps to the "old" game as well. I'll finally be able to defend that dang fortified alaskan mine and that darn SVER hangar deathtrap, and show my sworn enemies hows its done in the jungles of central america!

I think the faction neutral changes are due out soon?

MAG has a clan system coming in like a month.

And the VAST majority of MAG players are NOT affiliated with clans at all -- so 8-man squads WAS a good idea.

Honestly, the game's biggest flaw is the lack of a "just you and your buds" chat channel. The rest of the game is really fun, IMO. The clan support, although it will be cool when it comes (and it is coming soon -- they talk about it all the time on the MAG boards), will still not address th...

...because it's well-known that it will cause horrible disc scratching, because the 360 DVD drives have always lacked safety bumpers, to save MS about $0.50 per console... if that.

Not really news. It is true, however, and always has been.

* Publishers sell games to retail for about $35.
That $35 goes towards paying:
--> cost-of-goods (the disc, manual, case, shipments), ~$8, and
--> licensing fees, ~$6 (each of the Big Three charges a license fee for every game disc made for their system -- its their primary source of income, since they sell the console HW at cost... or at least Sony and MS do)
--> The remainder goes toward paying off the development costs (average ~$20M for a crossplat...

It's a $10 game with 8 characters, based on a TV show which is about *real* combat. It's not a traditional fighter, where button-mashing gets you by the AI until you get halfway through the tournament.

If it was that easy, it wouldn't be worth the $10, would it? It's be called "Deadliest Warrior: You are already!" then, as well. Real close-quarters combat is over in just a couple seconds, if that. This game would hardly distinguish itself if it d...

Does Ford deserve respect, in the modern day, for inventing the assembly line and revolutionizing the modern auto industry? Does Sony deserve respect for inventing the walkman, which you could claim was the FIRST portable entertainment device to ever truly grab the common market, thus making the handheld game console a possibility?

I kinda think that, when they lost it, they lost it, and they gotta work hard to earn respect again. The same applies to Nintendo.

The only new hardware on the horizon might be a Wii HD, which would probably only be a competitor for the 360 and PS3, in terms of capability.

They still have time to up the RPG bar on current gen consoles. It'll be a few years.

No way is Yuna from FF X, X-2 the hottest female game character of all time. She shouldn't even be on the list -- she was a great character, but "hot" isn't a word most would use to describe her, I think. "Sweet", "Innocent" is more like it.

Nariko, as mentioned above, deserves a spot here. Maybe Tyris Flare from Golden Axe (bad game, undeniably hot character). BloodRayne (I think these games are terrible, but the character was pretty...

The article doesn't list squat about the Pros of a PSP Go. In addition to the wierd list in the article, he forgot:

* Has Bluetooth
* Can be used as a home console, with wireless PS3 controller and TV connection cable. All other PSPs require you use the double-tethered PSP as the controller. Ick.
* Has unique 'Pause-to-flashdrive' feature, which allows you to save any game, anywhere, anytime, and still turn the console off.
* Can be foun...

Actually, iirc, Sony allows devs to collect 100% of the net profits from exclusive PSN sales, until their dev costs are recovered (at which point, the net is split between Sony and the dev). That offer is only for exclusives, however.

If Joe Danger had been multiplat, it may have required over 100K copies to break even -- actually I think 200K copies, since MS tends to let the dev have ~25% of the net, as I recall, and Sony probably would offer a similar percentage for a mul...
