All modern shooters are copies of... Modern Warfare?
Did this guy just start gaming ~4 years back?
2M units in one month is "below expectations"?
Even if you look at the Move as a new hardware platform by itself, 2M in one month is phenominal. That's more than the 360 and PS3 sold in their 1st month, isn't it?
Pachter should leave the drugs at home. Its not even a new platform -- its a control option. Basically an accessory that makes the PS3 more appealing to more people, and makes profit besides.
You're sad that SOCOM looks so good relative to other shooters, unlike last gen?
We don't know anything about MP, so I can't think of anything else you could be sad about.
VGChartz says near 500K in Americas. EU is supposedly 1.5M.
That's near 2M in one month, and its not even out in Japan yet. That's WAY beyond what I thought it would sell, personally.
I have one... can't get my hands on a second one yet, because my local store only has a couple bundles now, and no separate controllers. It's good fun -- I can't wait to get a 2nd.
Wow. The fanboys are really frightened of this game. Look at all the troll comments.
Lol... Fail. MW2 is a FPS. This is a TPS. You're starting off on a pretty bad foot, comparing the two. Did you even watch the video?
Actually Move has sold a half million units in the US alone, in one month.
It's closer to 1 million WW.
I still find it hard to believe that people are excited about Black Ops. World at War was barely better than CoD 3, as far as SP goes.
MP.. yeah World at War was decent, but the original BF:BC was better. Black Ops doesn't really excite me much, for that reason. Treyarch's CoD games are always mediocre, no matter how much Bobby would like us to believe otherwise. Honestly the trailers shown thusfar have mostly bored me. Radio controlled cars and zombies? Gimmick...
He's only 40. That's not really that old. Nathan Drake, the character, is supposed to be pretty close to that, and Harrison Ford was probably close to that when he played Indiana Jones in the first couple movies.
WoW's budget, for the original game, was only about $20M. Yes, a competitor would probalby have to spend more... but not 15X as much, and 3X as much as the most expensive games ever made. That's ridiculous.
They'd have to have a staff of something like 500-750 full-time people for the length of the project to cost that much. Even the most expensive games rarely top 150 people by the project's end, and only 70-80 are full-time. The only way a KOTOR MMO coul...
Actually, I think RRoD might make them think twice about buying right away.
A good 10 million+ people got burned by that. Several million before the return policy was even implemented.
Since when do animators have the inside scoop on budgets and subscription numbers?
I gotta call BS on this one. $300M my arse.
I'm guessing the PSP 2 will be a lot more technological muscle for the money, at least.
"Over-priced" is relative to what you're getting. The DS is/was overpriced. The PSP never was, really.
No. IBM makes the current CPU in the Wii, you know. They make plenty of non-Cell CPUs.
The Cell IS the greatest microprocessor concept of the last decade... but I sincerely doubt it'll make an appearance in the Wii 2. With all the bitching and moaning developers did about the Cell, before they realized how cool it was, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony dropped it as well.
That would be lame, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Big well-known titles too, like Solitaire, Minesweeper, Hearts, Tetris...
Those games are way bigger than Halo, in terms of overall time-played, you know. ;)
Only the biggest games on Windows Phone 7!
If a couple more good games like this come out for the Kinect, I may get one. Until then, I'm holding back, though. Needs more decent software.
This game though... almost warrants a Kinect purchase by itself. Almost.
It has about the same pixel fill rate, but only 1/4 the texture processing power of the GTS 250.
In short, no. Your GTS 250 is better.
Don't get your hopes up with the Crysis thing. It's raw numbers aren't much better than those of the high-end nVidia 6xx0 and 7xx0 series.
To put it in perspective, this card is on par, on paper, with a nVidia 7800 GTX in terms of performance, although it does have more modern shader support. Its basically a nVidia GTS 420 with twice the pipes.
The 7800 GTX is the approximate PC equivalent of the PS3's RSX. A decent card, but nothing phenominal these days.
Remember that the performance numbers, for unified shader cards like this one, that you see on most sites, assume one triangle when com...
Good list. I own them all. Lost Odyssey should replace Crackdown though. Crackdown was fun... but not "top 5" fun.
