Honestly, like a few posters have stated, in PC games I rarely turn on AA, because jaggies bother me less than a framerate hit.

If MLAA on PC graphics cards won't deliver a frame hit (and it won't)... then yeah, I'll use it. It'll be the first form of AA I've ever voluntarily turned on in a PC game, even.

MLAA is useful for more than just PS3 games, IMO.

MLAA is superior to 4x MSAA... as long as you don't have telephone lines, and fences and crap like that in your game. It looks way better than MSAA on thicker edges, but doesn't really work on 1-pixel wide stuff.

Depends on the game, as to whether or not you should use it. If you're playing a game where you look at telephone wires alot, and them looking smooth is a big deal for you, you should definitely take the frame hit of MSAA. Otherwise MLAA is pretty much ...

You must live in America, where the land is fertile just about everywhere, and in the right climate for growing the mainstays of modern agriculture.

America grows like 40% of the world's food, you know, yet only has 5% of its population. Ever wonder what America's major export is, and why its economy is so strong, and always will be so? Most of the world isn't so lucky, in that regard.

Gears 2 cost $10M. Gears 1 cost considerably more. Sequels are always cheap, by comparison, because the engine/core tech is done, and just enhanced with the later revisions.

That said, your comparison is still valid. $500M would have made a hella lotta good games.

PSP has sooo many great RPGs. A lot of them just came out in the past couple years, too.

Ys 7, Ys; Oath in Felgana (Ys 4 remake? I forget), and YS 1&2 remake are all coming in the next couple months, plus theres Phantasy Star Portable 1&2, Crimson Gem Saga, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Hexyz Force, etc. etc. All the RPGs I mentioned here are top notch quality, right up there with the likes of DQ9 (which is on the DS, of course -- and is awesome), in my opinion.

Good crossplat. Again I'm disappointed by the lack of MLAA, since 2x MSAA costs on the RSX, and relieving it of that work probably would have put the PS3 clearly on top both visually and in terms of framerate, but maybe Platinum just didn't have time to do it.

Sony doesn't ship units to stores until the stores purchase them. In other words...

Sony sold 1M Moves in the US... to retailers, who are their direct customers. 1M Moves may not be in US consumer (meaning consumers of retail products) hands yet, but they will be once the holiday season is over -- retail is pretty efficient at moving inventory once they invest in it.

Tretton wasn't "lying" about anything. In fact, he was reporting the exac...

Nintendo needs to chop the price to $149, and remove some of the goodies they have in the bundle -- like the extra controller and the nunchuk.

People just don't see the value in the current Wii bundle, even though its pretty dang impressive -- Wii, 2 controllers, 2 games, nunchuk -- that's a whole lotta value for $199, IMO. I bought my Wii for $249, and it only came with one game and one controller -- and I'm decently happy with it. Not as happy as I am with my ...

Just fyi for anyone who thinks this is "like" a game review embargo...

Game review embargos are for the posted review date. The game is still sent out, to be played and reviewed, several weeks before it hits the shelves. The reviewer plays it, writes the review, and then, when the embargo lifts, they post it.

In this case, Microsoft hasn't given the reviewers the hardware/software to even start reviewing yet. Its not a review embargo -- its a...

If my PS2 died... I would by another one.

I still use mine. Soooo many great games left to play.

Looks like the Devil will Cry after all. I don't understand the need to remake the main character in a series that was largely respected for its main character.

No one ever talked up DMC by saying "Lucia sure was badass in DMC2", or "I loved fighting that lava spider boss over and over and over... wow DMC was awesome for that reason". Also, no one ever said "DMC sucks, because Dante was really uncool, and they should make him emo instead to make...

Funny article. I hope they do a video of Kinect "in action", like they did for Move.

I think Tales of Vesperia is just a bit better, but yeah, LO was pretty dang good.

DMC is a game about its cool character... so they decided to change the character, because the series is still popular.

I don't understand. Dante better be pretty awesome in this "new" DMC, or all the fan rage is most certainly justified.

Good to see that the PSP Go is still moving a few units each week in Japan, even at its launch price. I like the Go a bunch... fits good in pocket, super portability, the fact that it comes with 16GB storage and several games. It was a total deal for me, relative to the 3000, which I would have had to buy a memory stick for anyway (I hate UMDs).

I honestly hope future handhelds are more like the Go than the PSP or DS. Disagree all you want... but its a pretty sweet device,...

YES. I knew if I waited I wouldn't have to get this one on the 360. Awesome. I can't help it... I prefer trophies, and hate it when I want to spend time on a machine that doesn't have them.

You don't have to relearn everything for "Sony".

You have to learn how to program Cell-type CPUs because they are the future.

Only so many cores can share a cache without thrashing so badly, or wasting so much money on shared cache resources, that the standard paradigm ceases to be effective. Past about 12 cores, a Cell-type CPU has titanic benefits over standard designs, and since the tech industry is ever moving forward...

This article has the basic facts correct.

The RSX, by itself, can't really handle all the work the Xenos (the 360 GPU) is expected to do, from a straight 360 port. Its not too far off, but its enough to make for a noticable hit -- hence early PS3 ports, from the 360, missing features, or having lower framerates. With the help of the SPUs, it can, however, do far more than the Xenos alone can do.

It took development houses a while to get that work offloa...

Also, the 360 can't actually support 3D in HD, due to its small eDRAM framebuffer not being able to hold stereo HD framebuffers while working on the next frame... so why would this guy want to say it was cool again? Being that his company's livingroom entertainment product doesn't fully support it like his competitors' products do, and all.
