Team Ninjas games are not worse than they were previously. They're on the wrong platform, is all. Look at Metroid Prime's sales on the Wii, compared to the GC, which was only like 1/3rd the installed base. You think Retro sucks now too? ...or is it the console demographics?

And.. lol... Dead or Alive is better off gone, bud. It was a shoddy fighter, at best. Soul Calibur, Tekken, VF, basically every fighter in existance wipes the floor wi...

Every time there's a generation change, game devs and publishers spend millions to rework game engines. It costs the industry, on the whole, *billions* of dollars.

No publisher wants to change to a new gen of platforms, if they can avoid it.

That's a really bad analogy. Losing a lead engineer, or lead artist, would be the equivalent of losing Kobe or Jeter. Losing a good coach might be the equivalent of losing a lead designer. Itagaki was none of those things.

This was more like the Yankees losing Steinbrenner. Sure, it hurt emotionally... but the team wasn't really any worse off for it.

EDD makes most of their money from keyboards and mice. This "X360 makes all the EDD bux" has got to stop -- that's just not true, folks.

The PC hardware division was rolled into the Games division to make it (Games) look better on paper.

Take a look at your keyboard and mouse for a sec. I bet there's a 50% or greater chance that at least one of them was made by MS. There's probably a 45% chance one of them was made by Logitech. The r...

"Reknowned" game studio heads are rarely all that important to their dev studio, except as a figurehead.

By the time you become a figurehead, you're doing administrative and PR work -- that's good for the team as a whole, but its the team you hire that are the real talent. That's why you hired them.

If a studio loses 30+ staff, that's a big deal, and it often wrecks the company, because inevitably the higher-ups let go of people the...

@IHateYouFanboys:

His list is somewhat valid, and I'll tell you why:

(1) Best use of deferred lighting, despite the fact that several (not "many") games now use it (on the PS3), KZ2 does the best job of utilizing it well. You can chalk that up to art direction, but at the time it was a technical marvel.
(2) I agree that these two games don't do anything other than being supurbly sound, and having amazing art direction and animation....

I have to call out this Jimenez guy on his story about his X360 and PC MLAA being "just as good" as the PS3's. Burning 4-6ms of GPU time is NOT worth it when you're trying to run under 33ms for a 30Hz framerate, and *definitely* not when you're trying to get in under 16.6ms for a 60Hz framerate.

The Cell's SPUs are often difficult to keep busy during certain portions of the frame, and if you're double- or triple-buffing (which is the vast majori...

Well.. now that Pachter thinks it'll bomb...

That's pretty wierd. I was sure it was gonna bomb, but now that Pachter agrees with me, I'm thinking that's some sorta sign from the cosmos that it'll succeed. Or could Pachter be right every once and a while?

Sweet. This means MS is going to split their "plentiful" 1st party resources amongst core and Kinect experiences, yeah? Supplying so much more content to both "platforms"?

Something seems off with that. Everything doesn't add up.

That's right. Since this one guy doesn't like creating characters, no one can like it, and it doesn't belong in any game this guy chooses to purchase.

He was forced to create a charcter -- he couldn't just push the "I'm done" button, I guess. Oh the agony of it all.

...has the world truly become this self-centric? This blind to the wants and needs of others, that this is valid journalism?

I agree with the NASCAR comment.

Once word is out that the greatest NASCAR sim in the universe is GT5, it'll dominate the American charts.

Americans _love_ NASCAR. It just hasn't been advertised as such... yet. If there's a NASCAR sticker on the plastic wrap of North American GT5... look out.

What?

That makes no sense. 1st party software, by the meaning of the word, cannot be "mandated" by Microsoft -- MS isn't merely their publisher. They ARE MS. Everything they do is automatically "mandated"... MS decides what to green light and what to not... they don't just let 1st party dev teams run off and do what the heck ever they want to.

Turn 10 only works on Forza, sure... but if MS execs tell them "add Kinect suppo...

Kinda hard not to use 100% of the CPU, when there's only one CPU. The "using X%" thing really is only applicable to multithreaded hardware.

@Sweeper

Are you kidding? 1 million is nearly 10% of the installed US base. In ONE month. That's practically a miracle for a peripheral made 4 years after the console launch.

LoL @ Too Pawned.

"Every single game that is on PSP should have been on PS2 or PS3"

You say that like its a bad thing. Portable gaming would suck without the PSP, in my, and many people's, opinion. You're pretending the 60M people who purchased a PSP would have settled for a DS if the PSP didn't exist. I wouldn't have, and didn't.

I won't touch a 3DS either. I've effectively had one for years, only wi...

People do NOT want to own UMDs. You are hugely mistaken in that regard.

The iPhone proves that digital media is appealing. The Go's only failing was its price.

Most of the good games ARE in the store, though.

Final Fantasy CC is about the only important one that's not. I'd blame S-E for that -- they should make it happen.

Why are there so many retailer deals on 360s lately? Aren't they selling like hotcakes?

Or am I calling the chicken first, when in fact it was the egg?
