PSP Go is great. You get one, and you never look back (unless you have some unfinished UMDs).

I'm just pointing out a discrepancy in their scoring. It doesn't seem like a game scoring above 9.0 should have any individual scores below 8, to me -- otherwise, how was the > 9.0 really justified?

You joke me. Crysis 1 was... bad. I'm having trouble believing they made Crysis 2 a "10", in terms of presentation.

Now I'm gonna have to pick it up. I will lose all faith in VGC if the story sucks, though.

No game with a story score of "7.8" deserves a score over 9 overall, unless the MP is *really* amazing.

Still, it sounds like Crysis 2 is a lot better than Crysis 1, game-wise, so I'll have to pick it up at some point.

It amazes me that a game can get a score over 8 with just good graphics. It seems to be a recurring theme -- Crysis 2 isn't the only such title.

So.. 9.4, that's the graphics score, right? How about the actual game?

@GrieverSoul

You don't seem to understand the fundamental concepts of capitalism very well.

Games will reduce their price to the bare minimum that is profitable, by nature of competitive pricing. Removing the middleman would be a *good* thing for gamers everywhere.

There are no bogeymen, or conspiracies revolving around stealing as much money as possible from the gamer's pocket.

Well, TBH, the 360's Xenos would be a fantastic chip, capable of rendering 720p flawlessly, if it only had about 15M of eDRAM, rather than a measly 10MB.

I think its the fact that the PS3 doesn't have this flaw (although it has others), that gets the fanboys excited. It's a shame that ATI came up with such a great chip, and then (probably for economic reasons Microsoft demanded) crippled it to basically be a sub-720p GPU, unless the dev has so many GPU cycles to ...

LoL. Seriously man, you need to see the eye doctor, you are a severe danger to everyone on the road.

Careful not to fall off your rockers, when criticizing this game. Remember, teh consolez has more online games than just SOCOM and Halo now.

Back in the day, we used to get together and have a picnic while waiting for the round to end, and no one needed OTS because s00per hipfire made every weapon like a lazer beam you could should while running at olympic sprint speeds sideways.

Also, grenades took skillz to throw -- none of this aiming your reticle was nee...

I think running a serious game at true 1080p, even at 30 Hz, requires more horsepower than any of the current gen consoles can provide. Racing games (or simple arcade games) are probably the only exception, since they involve running around looking at relatively static geometry, in a very predictable fashion, while looking at other inflexible, inorganic geometry (cars) along the way.

You have to consider the tradeoff between upping the rez and framerate, or just improving th...

There are performance analysis tools for the PS3 (and lots of platforms) that tell you what % of each frame a particular core is in use.

It doesn't make sense from a single-threaded perspective, but when you're utilizing multiple threads, you have to do it manually (programs don't auto-program themselves to be parallel), and the amount of work you've managed to make parallel, and the amount of parallelism available, is measurable.

Your statem...

I think he's basically saying that 3D will be in the game, but they don't intend to make it the focus of the title.

Next Wii will be approximately the 360, in terms of raw horsepower. Maybe a bit less memory, only one or two CPU cores, etc., but pretty close.

That's what kind of hardware you get when trying to make a profit at $250-$300, which will be their target pricepoint.

This is actually an ingenious method to downgrade 3rd party crossplat games to the least common denominator, and make their console look "just as good" as the competition, while still m...

I hope Nintendo allows devs to disable 3D completely, because that would allow devs to fully utilize the GPU and make games that actually look better than PSP games, and the battery will last 3-4 hours instead of the measly 2.5 that IGN reported.

Ever notice how many games, this gen, use Unreal or other licensed tech, relative to last gen?

Epic, and other middleware companies, stand to benefit every time the cost of engineering a product goes up -- because the value of their middleware then also goes up, and more developers are inclined to use it, rather than blowing larger and larger quantities of capital building their own engine.

Epic stands to gain hugely if there's another console gen ASAP. ...

I must be in the minority -- I hate splitscreen co-op, because I know the game suffers for it. I prefer networked co-op, where everybody has a whole CPU & GPU to themselves.

I hope that's at least an option. Got 2 PS3s in my home for just that purpose.

I'm having a little trouble with the author calling Crysis "open world", because its not. Not even close. He's right with regards to games with large environs not possibly looking as good as games with closed environs (like Dead Space), but Crysis doesn't really qualify as an open world any more than KZ3 does. If you want "open world", look to games like MAG or GTA4 -- Crysis isn't even in the same "open ballpark", as it were.
