"this engine use Mega Meshes for create a world of billion polygons"
Keep in mind that 1 billion polygons means at least 3 billion vertices, and each vertex usually has quite a bit of info associated with it -- usually a minimum would be floating point coords (12 bytes), usually 2+ sets of texture coords (8 bytes per set, so 16+ bytes), and a normal (4 bytes). Then you'd need an index array, or set of arrays, to reference them when making polygons, and that wou...
Yeah the 3DS is definitely slower. He starts it 2nd, yet the DSi XL, which he started 3rd, beats it to the title screen by several seconds, and then the framerate appears choppy on the 3DS as well.
It may be running an emulator, rather than native code, due to some minor architectural differences between the processors, or the fact that the 3DS supposedly devotes one of its cores completely to OS/background tasks, like StreetPass (amongst many other things), whereas the DSi...
Deus Ex was good, but honestly the original System Shock deserves "best shooter ever made".
I just can't agree with Deus Ex being #1, with System Shock on the table. If you haven't played it, you should hide your head in shame, and then go find it and play it. If you can get by the early-1990s graphics, its *still* a great game. Deus Ex has not really aged as well, IMO.
Many of the same people worked on both games, as well as their sp...
This game will be great.
Made by the devs of The Bard's Tale -- a small dev. It's fantastic to see such a great upcoming game from a small, independent team, so I'm going to day 1 this one, even though its not usually my style.
The lighting is definitely way better than Gears 1 and Gears 2. That's a big improvement in my book.
It's tough to really gauge animation quality, framerate, effects, textures, etc. from an internet video of MP play, so I don't think that's worth commenting on. MP anims (networked players) are always a little hokey compared to their SP counterparts (AIs), and that seems just as true here as in any other game -- although they are definately in the "goo...
Honestly 3DS sales are already dropping, and there is some unusual behavior in the rest of the handheld numbers, so soon after its release in Japan, and just before its release in the rest of the world.
Much of the 3DS drop is due to supply and demand... but many people seem to be buying DSes and PSPs instead, which sorta implies that the 3DS will not pick up later on. People are willing to purchase an alternate system -- the sales of the PSP and DS should have tanked trem...
"Are you that emotionally attached to a piece of hardware?!"
That's a great question. You basically just asked why the fanboy wars are so heated this gen. I think I have a partial answer for you.
My theory is that its due to achievements, trophies, and most importantly, friend lists. People do *actually* have emotional attachments to the other people they game with -- so they defend the console "of their choice" (really meaning ...
@Vherostar
Actually there was a report recently that showed 80% of all new 360s sold were the Kinect bundle. In a sense, its the opposite of what you're suggesting -- the 360 sales have nearly unified with Kinect sales, and the "core" 360 sales are near rock bottom.
Great game. My fav on the 360 to date. I'm glad it finally hit a respectable sales mark.
Bummer. I just can't stand to bind games to my 360 anymore -- I'll have to go PC then I suppose... except of course that timed exclusives have no actual reason to avoid the PS3.
I can wait a year for the announcement, which they probably can't make under their timed console contract for a while.
Whew I'm glad its timed. Looks like a good game.. and I just have to have trophies, not cheevos.
I've been pondering the dual primaries thing for a while now, and I've come to think that it may actually be an awesome addition to SOCOM.
Yes, yes, it makes specialists "tougher". It's not really that pistols aren't present, but rather that two primaries are available that bothers (honestly it doesn't bother me) most actual SOCOM players, because now snipers can defend themselves, assault types have the option of either AR or a shottie, etc. H...
Well said, and well thought out. +bubbles
Terrible rant article.
1) No game lobbies -- who cares?
2) Classic and Regular modes -- options are good. Forcing everyone to play how one small group likes... is dumb.
3) Learning Curve? WTF? That's why its a game, and not some cakewalk.
4) Author doesn't like new game types... yet hasn't actually played them. Dumb.
5) No pistols? Wow, scrapin' the bottom of the barrel for complaints here. No one gets to carry the l...
Honestly, since DX7, DirectX has mostly just *become* OpenGL.
The DX6 (and prior) APIs were atrocious.
Wow, 80% of 360 sales are sold with Kinect! As a hardcore gamer who enjoys his PS3, and has kids, this is good news.
This means that the number of 360s being sold to hardcore gamers may be fairly small compared to the PS3 core gamer sales -- which means that, eventually, the PS3 will have core game sales which might exceed that of the 360.
This is good for anyone who prefers gaming on the PS3, because it means that multiplats may start to see the PS3 as the ...
Galaga was made by the same company as Galaxian bud (Namco) -- it was effectively Galaxian 2.
You don't see the difference, do ya?
The game is called "FortressCraft". Brink is called "Brink", not "Mirror's Brink".
That's just a coincidence, eh?
I would totally buy this, if I hadn't already played the PS2 version...
I wonder how many people who pick this version up?
I think the PS3 fans are mostly upset by the "360" in the article headline, when, in fact, this isn't really feasible tech on the 360, due to space limitations on DVDs -- particularly single-layer DVDs, as dual-layer DVDs have slower read speeds than Blu-Ray. The 360 only gets about 3 GB on a single-layer disc. Calling the tech out as 360-centric in the headline, when, in fact, the 360 is ill-suited for it, is misleading.
In truth, its a technology that is rea...
