Call me crazy, but I'm not really interested in any of them. Maybe I'll go with my friends who are hardcore into Pokemon to see Detective Pikachu as I'm sure that will be a 6/10 for me, but eh...

I believe it, but what's right for God of War may not be what's right for a game like Sekiro. I would rather devs keep having the freedom to make the games they want to make going forward than head into a more draconian future where there's an explicit rule that they have to do things a certain way, such as always having to have an easy mode in their games. In the case of Sekiro, the challenge is a key component of the experience and the game was built around that. Perhaps it j...

Thanks for giving us a break from the stupid Sekiro difficulty debacle to reminisce about last year's tripe. The only problem is, last year's tripe was still tiresome tripe and it's not exactly the first thing that comes to mind about 2018 that I would want to reminisce about.

Also, aren't families in the same household capable of interacting with each other and...I don't know...sharing a PS4 and a TV with local multiplayer? Failing that, two PS4s and ...

The best difficulty option is the ability to choose to play a game that fits the level of challenge you want IMHO. There’s no reason why devs should have to bend over backwards to accommodate people their games aren’t necessarily intended for, but there’s no judgment in picking a game that’s more your speed.

There are a variety of games out there for different kinds of gamers. Besides, why pick a game with a reputation for being challenging if that’s not what you’re wan...

I’m disappointed there isn’t DLC that plays the entire game for you, and uploads it to YouTube so you can stream it. /s

@Juusterey I’m not sure how that’s a hard concept for people to grasp, but apparently it is or we wouldn’t keep seeing these articles.

This again? Are games journalists these days all a bunch of pansies?

$8 off a 2DS XL is considered an amazing deal?

Yeah, although while Sony is doubling down on the wasteland genre (this is only their second such IP to try it) they appear to have come up with yet another original take on the subgenre. Their studios are a cut above Ubisoft anyways IMHO, and with the highly positive previews I for one am not skeptical.

People don't understand the difference between a standard zombie game and a wasteland game that has zombies in it. For those who don't know, the difference is in how much focus the zombies in particular get. A zombie game is about combating hordes and hordes of zombies. A wasteland game of this particular type might use them as a plot device to further the narrative and will have the player encounter them, but the real focus will be on the characters and their fight for survival, a...

I've been around this site long enough to know that game journalism hits rock bottom every so often by forcing us to endure article after article beating a dead horse into a pulp on some topic or sometimes there are two topics being run into the ground. This will pass, but down the road there will be ample opportunity for third-rate journalists to make us despise another topic.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. No developer should be obligated to appeal to absolutely everyone with their games. There are many types of games out there for many types of gamers, with different genre preferences, and yes, preferences regarding difficulty settings. If a game isn't for someone, they should play something else. There's no judgment for finding a game too intimidating and preferring to play something more your speed.

Devs shou...

Considering this game is released much later and is a nostalgic throwback first and foremost, and will be available on multiple platforms, I'd say yeah, but does it really need to? It may not reach MK8 sales figures, but it can and probably will do fairly well in its own right. Besides, does every game that happens to be of the same genre as another game have to automatically be considered a competitor? Maybe fans of kart racers who enjoyed MK8 will enjoy this as well, and people who d...

If it were possible to ditch EA, I'd say do that.

That's because Cuphead was published by MS and these sites wouldn't speak ill of a game published by the company that lines their pockets.

Et tu Kotaku? I for one virtually never choose a mode that says easy, even while retro gaming, although the extremely rare few exceptions are all exceptionally difficult retro games where "easy" isn't actually easy. I don't need a challenge to enjoy a game so I'll often start with normal mode, but I'll generally never go lower than that. You can blame retro games like Twisted Metal 2 implying I was a pansy for playing on easy as a kid and barring progression unles...

I could, but it's not my thing. I like owning my games, I frequently backlog games I purchase for years at a time, and I like being able to revisit old favourites from time to time, years or even decades down the road. A subscription service can provide none of these things.

No, but some companies really want it to be. Not companies I agree with and plan on supporting much going forward, mind you.

I’m looking forward to the comments section of the inevitable Forbes article crying about this (as that’s about as close as I’ll get to reading it).

@opc For me, when it comes to options, the more the merrier. That is precisely why I’m not interested in this PoS. Other systems literally offer my choice of distribution format, so why would I be interested in a system that only supports one?
