What you don't understand tho, is Metal Gear Solid was known as a Playstation game (even tho only 1 of the games were truly exclusive), where as HALO is known as an Xbox game.

Graphics do matter. But for me, I want to include everything from animations, world detail, etc. Even if a game has an amazing story, you need to feel immersed in it's world to get it.
Last of Us did a fantastic job of this since it's world looked lived in, characters seemed alive with the help of idle animations, and proper reaction to the world around them.
All games need to do this next generation. We need to get over these static, dead, characters...
I'm almost completely sure this type of sport would quickly fatigue itself if it did one release every year. But it's certainly financially possible considering how little actually goes on when playing Tennis.

All I was able to notice was a better lighting system and proper car physics.
The two examples are in-car lighting. It looks much softer and less jaggy. And the other is watch for when the cars go into turns. GT6's car physics look much better. I just don't know why they decided this needed a full game release.
I think I may wait for GT7 on PS4.
See, this makes it very hard to tell. With the turn of the next generation coming at the end of the year, it's hard to tell if these games will still be GOTY.
Last of Us is my current GOTY tho. And I doubt that'll change. Even with powerhouses like GTA (lost interest with 4), Beyond: Two Souls, Watch_Dogs, and other games. I already feel nothing will make me as invested in a universe like The Last of Us did.
Tomb Raider was tons of fun, but it also felt like something that could have been on the Nickelodeon channel - minus the blood and some scenes.
The acting, animations, story, gameplay and atmosphere of Last of Us was far, far better. I felt perfectly fine getting right into the action in Tomb Raider, but only LoU has ever given me the feeling that I should stop and evaluate my surroundings.

I could have sworn someone posted a photo from E3 of a "XboxOne" broken down and on a Windows 7 desktop screen, with the guy opening up the cupboard holding the PC, PC open and a clear view of a GTX Titan.

Given how crazy pre-orders are with those two consoles, and the confusing Wii-U marketing, I think the PS4 and XboxOne won't have any issue outselling the Wii-U, and fast. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they both outsold it within the first year of their release.

Issue with all this is Microsoft bought out most of those games as Timed Exclusives.

I don't mean to insult either of those two amazing developers, but you do know even Kojima met up with the guys at Naughty Dog when he was blown away by Last of Us right? And as for Team ICO, they haven't made a game since SotC.
So, I'd say Naughty Dog pretty much set the bar in the gaming industry for overall game quality.

This is honestly what everyone should expect though. A game as near perfect and as critically acclaimed as LoU is damn well going to get random haters. There are folks out there who openly say it isn't their cup of tea, but at least acknowledge the effort put forward by Naughty Dog, and the quality of the game.
And if you really wanted the PSEye 2, you could buy the PS4, PSEye V2 AND a game and it'd still be cheaper than an XboxOne.

I'm perfectly fine with this. And I'm betting that most of the people complaining are anti-Lightning trolls who won't even be buying FFXIV, let alone pay the sub cost.
Lightning is actually one of my favourite FF characters next to Cloud, Terra, and WoL, too. So this is only a plus for me.
