I don't think Final Fantasy will ever return to turn-based gameplay. I think XIII will honestly be the closest you get, or another system more like XIV (MMO) or XII.

The only reason they did Turn-based back in the day is because of the technical limitations of gaming consoles and PC's. Otherwise I bet you'd see something more relatable to Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Age, or any modern MMO. Where you command a party, and take part in epic battles, with an awesome story ...

@ your later comment I can't reply to:

I actually agree that Final Fantasy XII's battle system was fantastic. The whole game was really. I'm curious as to why they didn't do that for 13? Oh well.

With that said, I'm still looking forward to Lightning Returns. Anything with Lightning, Cloud, or Terra in it is an easy sell for me.

Final Fantasy can be great without returning to turn based, 16bit games.

I can agree that Final Fantasy, after 12, hasn't been all that great, but they're still decent games (at least) in their own right.

What? EB Games in Canada is accepting pre-orders. Australia maybe?

I won't be getting these costumes and I don't feel bad about this at all. Like, they look cool when seen as a small image, then you see it full sized and it lacks all the details.

I'll be able to enjoy this game without these costumes.

This is one ugly controller. It just doesn't tell me in any way that it's a gamepad for Final Fantasy. I would have rather had a Dualshock 3 with a print on it.

Odd move Square.

Honestly, I agree with you. But I can completely see why Sony would bundle it in with the PS4.

According to Sony, the Vita's attach rate is really good. But in order for more people to buy more games for the Vita, they need more people to OWN a Vita.

So pushing it with the PS4 would not only put more Vita's in the wild, but it would attract developers to create more for the Vita.

Sony could only win by making this a temporary bundle...

Any momentum Microsoft gained in the first 4/5th's of the X360's lifespan is now lost. That console has been having a bad time with exclusives, or any reason to have that console exclusively in the last few years.

Then with the X1 disaster, that sealed it for most people.

Xbox1 will still do well, I can say that without a doubt in my mind. But I'm more than sure that if there are any true gamers on Xbox, they've rethought their position by n...

And to be honest, if MS is using the cloud to somehow magically give their console more power (lol), then can't Sony do the same thing?

Since they'll be running games of the damn thing, you think they'd be able to do whatever Microsoft decides to do since it mostly relies on internet connection and nothing else.

As for cable and all that, I can see cable companies offering apps on Smartphones and Tablets that let you watch TV on the go in the next...

That last Edit you did was actually a fantastic idea. It'd probably be the first thing of it's kind happening in this industry.

I vote for this mystical option. (50/50 buyout from Sony and Nintendo)

It's worth noting that most of the developers Sony shut down were offered to join up with other Sony studios. They shut down the other entity, but kept the talent.

This saves them money obviously, and retains the talent pool from the previous company.

But I hope you enjoy your casual motion games. I'm sure you'll just have a blast playing Rare games for the rest of your life.

It's gotta be a damn good 3rd party (Ubisoft, Valve, etc), or Sony. If they want to keep their creative freedom, it's gotta be one of those choices.

I can only see Sega or Sony knowing what to do with them though. And at least with Sony, they're guaranteed creative freedom, and help from Sony's other first parties, using Sony's in-house dev engine if they choose.

My only issue with that is that they'd become Sony exclusive if Sony bou...

But doesn't Australia also have the highest minimum wage ($16), and most average citizens of Australia make more in a week/month (working less hours) than an average US citizen ($8).

So you're essentially making more money than people in those other countries, faster, so it evens out the price. In fact, someone did a study and most folks in Australia could actually save up and buy a PS4 at their home price faster than most people in the US($8)/Canada($10)/UK(£6) ...

Considering MH isn't that big in the west, that Subscription they're asking for isn't going to fly here. They'll need to pull a Guild Wars 2 if they want that game to succeed.

Just a quick reply, there's a large difference between a "Story DLC Bundle" and a Season Pass.

Story DLC bundle is a bundle of story DLC for a percentage off.

Season Pass is ALL DLC RELEASED DURING THAT SEASON (Year, in most cases, IE NHL/NFL/NBA Season Pass).

Quality or amount of time per content doesn't make them neglecting the system any better. They're still doing it wrong.

And clearly, you don't know video games.

I'm guessing your top JRPG list probably only includes completely obscure and poorly received JRPG's because that's what cool kids do.

See, this I can get behind. Gaming needs a new pricing structure. Price games based on the content.

Single Player = $49/$39
Multiplayer (Co-op or Competitive) = $29

Then bundle them together (if the game features both) for the standard $59. Then people could choose between what content they want, and can stop complaining when a Single Player game costs full price.

When people start wanting games sold based on play time, that's w...

Although I do agree gamers should be able to keep trading in games we no longer want, and others should be able to buy cheaper used games. But the issue I see here is some people will only buy games used to save the few dollar difference. Meanwhile, there are tons of printed new games sitting on store shelves needing to be purchased.

This is a very touchy subject with gamers it seems. But honestly, the more money the developer and publisher can make, the better. So why is eve...

I'm glad they're focusing on animation and AI this time around. Since there is next to no way to come anywhere near movie-quality CG on this generation of consoles.

Highest end PCs can't even do that, and they probably wont for at least another 5-10 years depending on if we get a massive jump for whatever reason (better coolant/cooling, stronger materials, whatever it may be).

But at least they aren't focusing purely on graphics with the PS4...

At least it's only at the beginning that "the same old" happens. As opposed to Mario, Halo, Forza, Gears, Zelda, etc, etc.

Not saying those games aren't any good, since they're all fun. I'm just saying you aren't making a point. Especially when Sony seems to be the only major publisher taking risks and making/pushing new IPs.

Example for PS3 this late in the lifecycle:

Puppeteer
Last of Us
Beyond:...
