The difference is that Ninja Blade is supposed to be an action game, whereas Heavy Rain is an adventure/narrative-based game.
I don't know, Ninja Blade still looks pretty decent to me and I plan on trying it out.
To make a comparison between the PS2 and PSP MGS games and this game is just naive, for all the reasons that have already been pointed out.
The PSP has some really great graphics and nothing I have seen on the iPhone comes close. God of War CoO looks almost as good as the PS2 games and the upcoming Tenchu Shadow Assassins looks almost as good as the Wii version.
Here is a YouTube video showing the PSP version:
Motor Storm 1 & 2, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, GTP, MGS4, Killzone2...all of those are pretty much my favorite games in their respective genres.
It's awesome how many great games there are on the PS3.
Yep, it's an awesome game. I'm loving it.
Well, it's nice that you had a box conveniently lying around, but if it happens to me again I will have to go buy a box, which is just more hassle.
No. Your own box = a bigger hassle for something that shouldn't be happening in the first place.
Hey man, sorry for your troubles. Unfortunately, out of the millions and millions of consoles out there a few will have problems. But when it becomes as prevalent as the Xbox 360's RROD problem then it affects millions and that's on a whole different level.
There is so much contradictory information out there. I have a technical background and have an interest in game development and the hardware and I do a lot of reading on the subject. What's obvious is that there are still differences of opinion among game developers about the performance capabilities of the respective consoles.
It has become apparent to me that even developers can be fairly fanboyish and it's not uncommon for them to have a favorite console. This of course ...
No, they aren't all like Tenchu Z.
No, it is designed to feel smooth and fluid, with a sense of weight (not that every gun's weight is necessarily accurately recreated). I love the weighty and fluid feel of the controls.
I've played a whole lot of shooters in my life and there is nothing wrong with Killzone 2's controls. In fact, I like them better than in most games. They feel so nice and smooth. Most shooters feel jerky and unrealistic in comparison.
So is that why Killzone 2 has better textures than Gears of War 2?
I've looked at both games myself and there is no doubt about it. Many of the textures in Gears 2 look good at medium distances, but when you get as close to them as you do to the textures in Killzone 2 it is easy to see that Killzone 2 actually has the better textures overall.
I have both consoles and many PS3 exclusives do look better.
Uncharted, MGS4, GTP, and Killzone 2 look better for their respective genres than anything I have seen on the 360. They also tend to run better.
Mass Effect, for example, is a pretty nice looking game at its core, but it is plagued with screen-tearing, slow down, texture pop-in, and long and frequent load times. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, I just wish that it ran better.
Gears 2 ...
All the best-looking games I have seen are found on the PS3.
The 360 isn't too far behind though.
The Halo 3 hype was unparalleled and for many of us the game was a bit of a let down. I mean, I don't think I was very affected by the hype, it's just that I really liked the first game and to a lesser degree the second one and the third one just isn't as good in my opinion.
Who cares about hype? Smart gamers don't listen to it and instead make up their minds on their own. Either the game is good or it's not; the hype is irrelevant.
Yeah, but the atmosphere in Ninja Gaiden feels so lifeless to me and the plots suck.
GOW has it all: atmosphere, epic scale, awesome narrative, and excellent action gameplay.
Awesome post! I agree completely.
I am sick of these fanboy bloggers writing pointless articles because they were annoyed by the hype a game on the "enemy console" received.
The way Killzone 2 was hyped and managed to live up to the hype seems to really be getting under some people's skin.
I agree with Steven Colbert. So what if N4G has more PS3 fanboys? On lots of other sites it is the other way around. I mean, look at the comments at the bottom of this Gamepro article (on the Gamepro site), it is overrun with comments by Xbox 360 fanboys.
Me? I game on both consoles and when a game is good, I buy it. Killzone 2 is good and I don't care what people on either side say about it.
I find it hard to believe that the game is as good as you made it out to be. But if it is even half as good as you describe then it sounds like an awesome game.
I just wasn't sure about this game, but I am definitely really interested.
