Sorry, Killzone 2 doesn't look better. The CG video from E3 2005 looks a little better.
Team Ninja aims for 60 FPS. Every Xbox 1 game and Sigma ran at 60 FPS. Gears runs at a respectable 30 FPS.
When you take still shots of each game, Gears looks far better. But when you play each game, you appreciate 60 FPS.
It's debatable as to which approach to take. Do you push the limits and drop the frame rate, or do you enforce 60 FPS and go easy on special effects?
They are both worthy design methods.
Bioshock and Madden combined sold 1.3 million on 360 in August (in the US). Maybe you didn't include these 2 games in your calculation.
Lair, Warhawk, and Heavenly Sword were all developed for PS3 only. Do they look better than Gears?
No excuses anymore. Gears came out 1 year after the 360 launch. Lair, WH and HS, are out 1 year after the PS3 launch.
That's it! Game over!
Sony had their chance to prove the power of the PS3. 360 is the winner.
Have we seen anything that looks better than Gears for future PS3 games? No.
They had crappy 3rd party peripherals. They may still sell them. It's funny to see them pick the 360 and one game. But it's the best system and the best game.
Nobody else is complaining.
It will be supercalifragilisticexpialidoc ious! Have you played Halo 1 & 2?
If you like FPS, you will love Halo 3. Don't worry.
I don't remember DVDs looking poor in the 360. But the HD-DVD player upscales them and they look amazing.
I should pop a DVD in the 360 to see if there's a difference.
I don't want to know anything until I play it for myself.
Tomb Raider's success would have not happened without Lara and her big boobs. It was one of the first games to have a female lead character and guys were weary of playing "as a girl".
Tomb Raider hasn't changed much since the original, yet it still sells. Why do people buy it? Lara and her boobs.
It seems like the guy knows what he's talking about in the article. He addresses Microsoft's main problem: marketing in Japan. Every Japanese developer has spoken out about the poor marketing.
But MS is doing a good job at developing games for Japan. They need more, but they did get a big Square Enix exclusive, IU. Now they need DQ and FF.
I never said it was a clone and I never said clones were bad. I'm just using Tomb Raider as an example since it is the same genre.
The only reason that Tomb Raider is popular is due to Lara Croft and her feminine figure. Without Lara, you have an average action-adventure game. So, Uncharted is Tomb Raider without Lara. That means Uncharted is an average action-adventure game.
I'm your average Joe that is sometimes clumsy and scared. But I like hot babes for my avatar. It's much better than average Joes.
The concept of Uncharted according to the developer is that the main guy is supposed to be your average Joe. He's even a little clumsy and scared at times. I don't think they have pulled it off. I'm not sure that it's a good concept, either.
So, it will be like playing Tomb Raider with a clumsy & scared dude instead of Lara.
If I had a PS3, I would hope that I was wrong, but I'm not.
It's Tomb Raider without Lara Croft. My honest opinion is that it won't succeed.
Most AO content would be pornographic. The rest of it would be sadistic violence.
Pornography is cheap and foolish. Please don't say that AO games could be art.
...it would not be backwards compatible and it wouldn't have wi-fi.
Sony is catching up, but XBL is a unified infrastructure with full hardware and software support by Microsoft. All of the features you mentioned are default for all 360 games. A key part of XBL is total developer support. This is why many multi-platform games are online for 360. Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtua Tennis 3 are 2 examples.
I didn't see any NPD numbers come out for last week.
Those numbers are totally bogus. They are fabricated from VG Chartz wild imagination.
Besides, we all know that Halo 3 will sell 4 million in the next 2 months, beginning 8 days from now.
