Why are so many bashing the first Killzone? I liked the game. Actually still play it on the PS3. I have COD4, and to be honest - I like the original Killzone more than COD4. Given the choice which one to replay - I will pick Killzone. Maybe it is just the massive undermining campaign that people try to downplay Killzone because they see it as a credible threat to Halo - which I don't get - they don't even seem to be competing.

Good to see the devs coming to grips with dev kits on both systems. Hope we will all have fun with this game. Stop the stupid comparisons. So the PS3 might have a slightly better framerate, less tearing or stutters. It will still be enjoyable on both. Your enjoyment of a game on your platform does not depend on it having to be crap on the other console.

The publishers and platform owners hyped the hell out of these things for advertising. Sony and MS in particular went into a war over the specs. At some point Halo 3 was even hinted to be 1080p! Maybe Sony baited MS into this little war. But at some point this BS must stop. You can have 24 x 24 pixels upscaled to 1080p and claim on the box 1080p - but it still is 24x24.

PS3 is one of the best Blu Ray players around. Those with PS3's don't buy a standalone player. So the standalone Blu Ray players compete with PS3's and HD-DVD standalone players. And still manage to capture 37% of the market.
Any which way you try to spin the figures... the title sales tells the real story. So Blu Ray titles outsells the HD-DVD titles by anything from 90% 10% to 2:1 ratio depending on where you take your figures from.

For most this will be a total waste of time. I skip most of the previews to get to the movie - switch off all the fluff - and watch the movie. The on disk space is more than enough to have all the commentary and extra features, behind the scenes etc.

PS3 is a games console with a Blu Ray player - as the PS2 was my first DVD player, so the PS3 is my first Blu Ray player.
The quality of the Blu Ray disks is awesome. I have 14 games titles now, only one Blu Ray movie - yeah the one that came free with the console. Over here there is not Blu Ray rentals yet - the market is still small - but only Blu Ray is available.
Bottom line is - why should I have seperate MP3 player, CD player, DVD player, console, and HD ...
If MS included HD-DVD, which was the original plan, then HD-DVD would win. But it was not ready in time. If the XB360 launched with HD-DVD along the PS3, then this race would have been really interesting - but MS needed a year start. The only way HD-DVD could win was in that window of opportunity - and it passed. XB360 would lost straight out if it launched next to the PS3 - but could claw back if the HD-DVD did well with stand alone. In the end - MS made the right decision for MS - launched ...
MS wants to kill the console market - it is not profitable for them - and never will be. They need to control the damage that may be caused if PS3 + Linux takes off and makes a user experience Linux first.

Naughty Dog is doing good in acknowledging that a competitor has done such a great engine that they would like to use it. If the engine is sorted - and it seems like Insomniac did an excellent job with it, then it is just the artistic direction and the gameplay that really needs to be done... I think it is a valid point. People think Blu-Ray is the next gen of DVD format. HD-DVD is just another variant of standard DVD like DVD-RW etc.
So in the end HD-DVD name is confusing and indicating a leap / next generation.
