If the 2GB download file was as good, it would be 20GB in size. In fact - it we would then have 3 HD movies on a normal Double Layer DVD.
I worked with many DVR's - and simply - compression takes it toll. You can not compress without losing quality. Get over it. 2GB download is not the same quality as a 20GB HD movie. If it was, I would not have taken the trouble to get higher bandwidth on a separate network to get high quality video on screens. Separate network because it kills...
He just needs to put the popcorn bag on top of his XB360. When it RRoD it will be so hot that it will get the popcorn ready in no time. And you would still be in the queue to pay for your popcorn.
Where his point will fail is that his XB360 will have to be send in - two weeks waiting time - and the digital download will not be on the machine that he will be getting back. Sucks eh?
If HD streaming worked so well I would have used it long ago on the corporate intranet. How the hell do people believe this? There is simply not enough bandwidth to download or stream HD movies. Heck - DVD quality is difficult enough as it is...

If your internet sucks (like here), and you don't have someone to play against in split screen... then it will suck.
For those wanting to play it off-line... Just connect it to the network, and create a local game, split screen - and you can have a four player game going.
My kids love this game... Have not been online with it yet... and still this game was worth every cent. But if you are alone then the multiplayer only will suck. But great to see this game doing OK....

And simply put... MS will not yield in this fight until they are bankrupt. They see it as a way to drive consumer demand for the profitable Home Media Center (XP or Vista) market. The console entry is only to keep Sony from taking the home media center market away from them with the PS3.
But in the end we will have to see the game and play it firsthand to know if this is an issue. More effects will mean lower framerate. But until it is released... speculate on...
Since Alienware was so successful and got bought out... this will most likely be an Alienware competitor.
Just play it on my Euro 60GB model. Heck... all the games you wanted you can now get for a quarter of the price - and the PS3 reads the scratched disks great without problems...
I wonder how many PS2 titles are being bought by people who own only a PS3?
Because it probably has an impact on existing titles as well.
The memory issues is not a problem... they reserved enough in the OS for it. The great thing about this approach is that it will be standard for all games... which will cut down dev time. More consistent as well than to add it in each game... which will leave you with ten different ways of how it is done.
Real quality takes some time to get it done right. I would rather wait and get a Prologue with 200k polygons and the full one a year later than settle for less.
Instead of bickering... be thankful that the devs put in this amount of effort to get the game this good. Bravo to the devs of GT and Forza. I will most probably only play GT as I don't plan on owning a XB360, but both the games are great.

Codemasters is a great company. They are on more platforms that GT, so they should be getting decent sales. Time will tell if it is as good as GT. Go for it Codemasters... always good to have more than one good franchise in a genre.
I get a crash when I right click on Firefox 3.
I am using Firefox 2 at the moment. # did seem quicker in loading.
IE that I am using, when opening tabs become a complete pig. It is slowwww, hangs often etc. So far Firefox 3 when the last bugs is sorted seems to set be my next default browser.
One of the reasons why people buy a Playstation. MGS2 was the best of the series for me. It is one of those games that you can replay for a long time.
They obviously spend a long time getting this one right. Nearly a year and a half after the PS3 release. This game will sell over a million first day.
HD format as add-on option is better... oops - that format died
First to 10M wins... - oops, overtaken within a year
40%+ of console revenues... - oops, not the recent trends
Hardware sales is everything... - oops, dead last
Attach rate is everything... - oops, outsold by console with lower total hardware sales
And so the stats drops one by one... until there is nothing left to spin... just like that other format that is dead now...
You don't need one more XB360 for your network... you need a new one to replace the RRoD one.

Why did they release a HD-DVD add-on for the XB360? Was it not giving "better" value proposition - whatever that may mean than BR? Now it is not relevant even? So you release a product that is not needed? Why?
They should rather not release any statements. Makes one think about the saying that you should not talk too much, as people who suspect that you might be an idiot will get their confirmation.
XB360 is best for digital downloads. That is why some models have no hard disk and other 20GB. You can download half an HD movie. Great platform for DD. Way to go! And we are supposed to be so stupid as to actually believe this?
The last 10 HD-DVD disks will be sold at only 3/4 of the normal price and that is prove of demand? hmmm... Whatever...
