I agree having a built in HD-DVD would have been nice to a point. However my biggest gripe with MS about the 360 is they didn’t make a hard-drive standard to all SKU’s. By doing that that would have solved a lot of issues straight from the start. As for the part about extra content, I’m not so worried in this area because Sony has the PSN network and MS live marketplace and they can make all that extra stuff free downloadable content, so no side really gets shafted.
As stated time and time again. It does not matter that the PS3 is on track or is doing better than the PS2 at launch. The reason and it’s very simple, the PS2 didn’t have any competition, and so it could run at its own pace with no worries as long as it kept gaining ground. This time around Microsoft has a year lead and continues to put distance between the two consoles each month it out sells Sony. A large install base is what publishers want to see and compared to Microsoft and Nintendo, So...
BrianC6234, what the guy stated was correct; while developers hate the size of the DVD they still seem to be making games for the 360 that look and perform great. For those of us that follow the technology industry, we aren’t even sure BLU-RAY and HD-DVD will be around in a few years. Formats like HVD (Holographic Versatile Disc) weigh in at 1TB; which is able to hold HD format uncompressed, while BLU-RAY tops out at 200GB and there or no disc of this size currently available. One would think...
AcFreeze has a very valid point. This really shouldn’t have got posted, in the past when everything was approved by the creator or creators of this site that would not have made it as a post and would have been rejected. Why? Because the author clearly missed the whole point of the intention behind the SKU, and this seems more like a rant. As for the people quoting this is a professional journalist for CNET, well take not that this article didn’t make it as one CNET listed.
I ...
Listen to this guy what he calls flaws…
“When you switch weapons to the Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer or Shotgun there is a delay until you can use them, sure they are the power weapons in the game, but that was the fun in Halo 2… you could jump someone switch weapons and hit them straight away” Bungie said they were changing this and if this person was so offended he should have said something in the Beta. It just sound like he was use to getting away with the cheap kills and n...
I'm sure I will get a lot of disagrees but so be it, I'll roll as the black sheep. I really didn't feel any of those games listed in that line up.
I'm more waiting for COD4 and Assassin's Creed.
Sometimes I have to wonder how stupid some people are and how eager they are to spin news. While it’s nice that the PS3 is on point with the sales from the 360 launch, it’s not good enough. I can’t believe so many see this and cannot understand that because the 360 had a year start the install base is larger and if Sony doesn’t sale twice as many consoles per month as the 360 then the PS3’s install base will never be as big as the 360’s. The worse part is the PS3 isn’t able to just match the ...
I’m not sure I follow you at all. How does Microsoft rushing 360 out effect PS3 gamers? Both Sony and Microsoft were planning on releasing consoles at the same time. MS only thought they were going to beat Sony to the market by 2 weeks or 1 month at best. However Sony delayed because of issues with unifying the BLU RAY standard, plus they had a complete year to study the 360 and approve upon anything they saw they might be lacking. Things from Sony that show complete lack to gamers last Gen w...
Cell i think you need to read the article again. UBI is getting help from Sony. If you read there goal is for it to be a quality product on the PS3 as well as the 360.
Shouldn't sony be trying to get home out to the market?
Right now I believe the price of the PS3 is bearable; while not optimal to all buyers it’s still at a much better price. While a lower price would make the PS3 a bit more marketable, the problem is the game library isn’t anywhere near that of the 360 and removing BC shrinks that library even more. The fact Sony still hasn’t released Home and the PSN still seems to have a problem getting demos in a timely manner. If Sony fixes those things (get more games, PSN, Home, help Developers) they wou...
yea but it's not going to sale like Halo 3.
Microsoft was actually making money on each 360 sold. However with all the repairs they have had to do they very would could have loss some of that profit. As for Sony they were loosing money from the start even with the high price it was said 241.35 on the 499 version and 306.85 on the cheaper version. Basically the high price was only to off set this. Let's not forget that in Japan they also lowered the price of the PS3 so they were loosing a bit more. There one thing which was screwed up w...
Agreed the PS3 isn't doing as well as Sony expected, at the sametime it's not on life support.
If Microsoft did this Sony would follow suit no doubt. The advantage of Microsoft doing this is that Sony would have to push the PS3 into the current PS2 role much sooner than Sony would like. Sony’s strategy is to slowly build the install base of the PS3 over a ten year period, also banking on the fact that it will take about that long to tap the power of the system. Microsoft on the other hand knows it will be cheaper 2 years from now to build a console that out does today’s top of the line...
I don’t feel bad for Sony or the other large record companies. Before they call us thieves they should think about the artist who only get pennies from CD sales and who most of the time get suckered out of owning rights to their own music. Not to say all of the crappy one hit artist that they sign where only one song on the CD is worth buying and the rest of the CD is garbage. CD sells are dropping due to lack of true talent and the true artist going to their own labels and selling their wor...
looks like your the only one that get's this treatment. Most everyone gets cash back or it repaired in about 2 weeks.
Petitions over games is just stupid, because most of these people are still buying the game and putting money in the publishers pocket. If anything boycot buying the game that makes more sense. At least when the publish isn't selling games they realize the fans are dispointed.
What I’m disagreeing about is that the Emulator is out of context to the story. The emulator was designed for Linux just so happens the PS3 can use it. We are here talking about the features of what each online service provides content wise and Sony doesn’t provide the roms for the emulators. This is just typical fanboy drama get over yourself and stay on topic.
Agreed sales of the 360 and PS3 are pretty close most months with the 360 mostly leading the PS3 by 20k or more. This is the problem as I keep stating and why the PS3 is viewed as a sinking ship. Every month they don’t sale the same or more that the 360 the install base lead of the 360 widens. The fact that the 360 month for month continues to out due the PS3 even slightly grows the install base lead for the 360. This is the same situation Microsoft ran into with the original Xbox. While many...
