"Awful healing mechanics"
The getaway was (if I remember correctly) the game that pioneered the whole "no health bar" attitude to healing, much like it's done in Uncharted, COD4. It was just a bit weird that you had to lean up against a wall to heal :/
The whole open world idea didn't quite work in the getaway, but that's not why I liked the game. It was meant to be played through, chapter by chapter, and I loved the way you then got to play throu...
You won't necessarily get more money from a multi-plat. Just think; Haze is a game that people only care about because it's only on PS3. The publishers made the DECISION to make it exclusive. If we didn't have exclusives, there'd be no point in owning both consoles. PS2/XBox was I think slightly different because there was such a HUGE install base for PS2. I don't think so many games went to the gamecube as well.
There's no point in them releasing home at all now. By the time it comes out (which, let's face it, is not going to be until next year: if the open beta is planned for autumn then it won't happen until winter, and home itself won't be released until spring-summer next year), there will be LOTS of great games for PS3, which will NOT have had "accomplishments" or whatever, NO tropies will be available for games, NO in-home launching will be available for most games, and NOBODY will th...
I don't think I'll get the beta, and when MGS4 comes out proper I'm probably NOT going to play the online mode. I don't want to have to sign up for _yet another_ thing. Konami IDs and all that bullsh*t. It's the reason I could never be @rsed to play crysis online.
Also, is the Konami ID and stuff linked to your PSN, or do you need to create a seperate friends list, etc? I _can't_ see why they would choose to use their own sign-on system when the PSN is just there for them to use...
I never had to use slipstreaming to get my car past 15 opponents in 1 lap in previous GTs (my favourite mode, that :D)
LOL @ duke nukem forever. I reckon it's not been in development for a VERY long time and they've been having a right laugh releasing teaser footage through the years.
What's more, is the multiplayer becomes useless after a couple of years for most games. The really good ones, yeah people will be playing them for years. But I think if we only had a handful of games with MP we wouldn't have that problem.
10/10 is not perfect. Think of review scores this way: What do you think, say, the original half-life would score if it were released today? Based on graphics, it's poor. Based on gameplay, yes I know it innovated at the time but we've seen a lot of games like it since so if they first released half-life now it would be unoriginal. The score would be quite low I think. Review scores are just a guide as to the reviewer's opinion of
-Which games are better than which
-Which g...
I noticed it first with area 51 for PS2. I never played the split screen mode on that game more than once when we realised it didn't have bots. I got Resistance and Motorstorm with my PS3, thinking, oh good I'll have a shooter and a racer to play with friends, alas, one had no bots and the other had no split-screen whatsoever. I would have thought by now that the AI for bots would have improved considerably. Maybe it's because reviewers don't factor split-screen modes into their scores, and g...
Haze has been confirmed to have bots :D
DON'T PRE-ORDER FROM AMAZON
They hardly ever deliver it on the release date, which IMO is probably the only reason for pre-ordering.
Yeah I just got cod4 and after playing it online (it is amazing) I realised that
Search and destroy mode is no different from counter-strike
I takes very few shots to kill someone, meaning spraying is in abundance
There's a lack of variety compared to warhawk (everyone has a rifle and a pistol usually, no vehicles)
Warhawk can be _really_ exciting, mainly because you have people on the ground, people in tanks, people driving in a jeep with the flag, and p...
In my opinion DLC should be exclusively for expansion packs to games. I'm alright with those; they're something that the dev has built a long while after the game was released in order to extend its lifespan. But even things like map packs I'm not so sure. Most of the "new" maps that are released are actually still just re-hashed levels from the single player campaign most of the time. And it adds substantially to the price.
It's a common business tactic, though, and I ...
I would list all of GT5's graphical failings, but I'm sure that anyone can see that there's lots of room for improvement in the graphics. It only looks photo-realistic in certain shots :P
For me it was a MAJOR problem (like, waiting 15 minutes to download the icons), but I know that everyone is going to go on the store all at once if it's new so that's good that the problem will be rectified.
Kotaku seems to always take jabs at sony even if it's unwarranted. Sometimes, yeah, but I don't think they really imagined there would be such a demand for PSN cards when they launched the service. Sony is late with a lot of stuff; that's alright: when sony says a date something will be available just add about 6 months and that's it. We're not all in such a rush ;)
Think about it this way: SCEA seems to value its customers and sets up an official blog to talk to them etc. SCEE seems to have business interests at heart. They probably don't employ many people to do the store in EU, but that's fine because they're selling enough consoles anyway and people won't generally factor downloadable games into a console purchase.
I don't know why SCEE won't listen to its customers and screws them over compared to SCEA. For some things like game localis...
The store loads very quickly for me, you can browse around it instantly. However, there are no images or thumbnails. I waited for 15 minutes until they finally loaded up on the latest page (let alone anywhere else), 2 of them said "missing image" and there was a weird fade in/fade out effect when I scrolled down the list of games that didn't look right. And of course, upon exiting and re-entering the store they needed to load up all again. A right c*ck-up, but then again, what did w...
Why they aren't going to release this in europe is a mystery to me.
I can't look at the trailer without thinking, "GT5:P looks way better than this". Hope it can look at _least_ the same but maybe at a lower res/framerate.
