"hardly any arcade titles on PSN"
There may not be that many OLD arcade games, but does marketplace have anything that even COMPARES to super stardust/pixeljunk monsters? no?
I agree with your point about RPGs, though, it looks like europe/us still won't be getting many good RPGs until next year :(
The graphics look very clean, lots of stuff happening on screen, it may look similar to gears 1 but OMG there are so many enemies on screen! It doesn't look very _realistic_, but then, that's not the look they're going for and it does look very nice indeed. I think we have reached a stage where it's hard to point out graphical flaws except in terms of art style and how photorealistic it is; in terms of detail and number of enemies on screen we're pretty much there...
Well at least it's in HD (I'm looking at you Haze, Halo, COD4)
Wait no I play COD4 at 1200P lol :D
The graphics look great, the physics look awful, even for an arcadey racer.
Woah how many players can COD4 support on consoles then? Glad I have it on PC and I can play 50 player battles :D
Virtual reality!!! Surely we can have it next gen... ;)
@all those saying graphics are not important
Why don't we all go play socom 2 then? How much better than that is this going to be? The graphics are practically the ONLY thing they've improved, and they ain't looking too pretty...
Haze has fully customisable controls...
Well as the rebel section is in the second half of the game, it's got to be harder than the mantel section (difficulty curve). It does seem odd, however, that mantel can mow down rebels when you're on their side, and rebels can do likewise when you're on theirs...
I was talking about operations per second basically. In terms of FLoating-point Operations Per Second (FLOPS) PS3's cell is really quite high. But you need to set it lots of different tasks on all the different SPUs to take advantage of this. If we had one big core in the middle, it could attain this speed with just ONE process, so devs wouldn't have to worry about it so much. But as I said, we've hit a brick wall in terms of clock speeds, they've ben at around 3.2 maximum for years. So build...
...err... they haven't implemented the trophies AT ALL yet? I thought that was a major feature of home... 2009 it is. And in game launching for only specific games? I thought so. So we can only play warhawk and motorstorm from home, which means that everyone that doesn't play those games will have no reason to be in home.
I'll say what I always say; if we hadn't hit a brick wall in terms of clock speeds, then we wouldn't have a problem - consoles would be easy as pie to develop for. The ONLY way intel, amd have been able to churn out more powerful processors is to make them dual core/quad core/cell and so they have more _theoretical maximum_ speeds but it's a lot harder to develop a game to take advantage of it. A 6Ghz single-core would clearly be at least as fast as a 3Ghz dual-core.
I think if they are going to release a pretty CG trailer, they should NOT then release footage of the game in pre-alpha that doesn't even look close, because they will dash people's hopes for the graphics even if they end up matching the trailer in the end. I was impressed by the water, the interactive vegetation, the ripples when they drove into the water were nice. The vehicles look very good too. I think it's just (as ever) the lighting that could be improved. To me it's mostly lighting/sh...
That's because it's only a half-game sort of remake of the PSP versions of wipeout. That's cool with me (because the price is going to be half that of a normal game) but you can see why it's not been hyped.
Well, to me some of the things (backdrops, grass) look better than COD4 but it seems to be lacking in detail on, say the explosions and effects, which, considering they were so good in ratchet and clank, surprises me a bit... I want to see some single player/co-op footage :D
I have not seen word of this... but I would imagine there's at least 2 player split-screen co-op as there was in the first one. Maybe we could drop a quiet hint to insomniac about it?
That was f'in ILL
I used to think that killzone 2 was just going to be pretty, yet grey.
Look at all that vivid colour and sunlight! February can't come soon enough D:
You can understand me when I am disappointed that release dates have slipped, home looks like it's _never_ going to come out and there's _still_ no cohesive friends system where I can just jump into someone else's game. OK so it's there in, say, warhawk, and that's fantastic. But when things are promised, then given a rough release date, then we get no word for ages until they announce some release date a year after, then as that approaches the game gets delayed again... sigh.
I ...
Another disappointment
Killzone may not have any blue or green but I love the colour of the sky, and the colours of the explosions and effects which contrast so vividly with the battle. A very nice art style indeed.
