I think they've offered a glimpse into why games are often delayed in EU with the "Germany: Delayed, pending age-rating approval by USK" comment. If the game is to be released for all EU territories at the same time, it's got to go through each country's bureaucracy and any one country could delay it.

Even sony's 1st party games are not supporting home at release. Looks like there will indeed be _very_ few titles supporting home when home finally hits in open beta form at the end of the year.

If you're not comparing too human to all the fantastic games out there, it will stand on its own as an OK title. Same goes for lair and haze. I find it particularly irritating because reviewers now basically have a score system from 5-10, 0-4 is redundant because everyone will say a game has absolutely failed if it gets that score.

The review system fails because it is impossible to assign a number to a game in a reliable way. There's no way to judge it except by guesswork and co...

A poorly written review with grammatical mistakes abound. They've also given the graphics a 9 which was a large part of the complaint of most reviews.

Sucks that Killzone 2, for all its extra development time, will still be lacking in
Co-op
Split-screen
Multiplayer maps
Length of the main campaign
Vehicles for MP

So it might look awesome and play awesome, but it will be severely lacking in features.

^^^^^^
The problem with the review system today

Should be

0-4 is a pretty bad game, but 4 is OK and may be worth a rent
5-6 is an OK game, worth a rent
7-8 is a good game, should buy it
9-10 is reserved for the most awesome games

If a game gets a 5.5 it is OK. Like they said in the review. So it's reasonably fun. It hasn't flopped completely. I find it more worrying that when a game gets a 7 it is said to have flopped, when 7 is m...

Yes and they'll be the first to write about how it's been "delayed" when the release date is set for next year...

I actually thought oblivion was pretty good, but the enemy level scaling ruined it completely for me. When I found out that was happening, I found it's easy to beat the entire main quest at level 2. It was a huge mistake to have that feature in the game.

I have no problems with the PS3's controller, though it could be a LOT better than it is. The face buttons and the D-Pad couldn't be better, the analogue sticks are responsive and I've no issues with their placement. But it's far too easy to press the L3 or R3 buttons when you're not intending and if you want to push, say, L1 and L2 at the same time it can be a bit uncomfortable.

6411d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Of course they won't drop the price of the controllers. Unless you live on your own and have no friends you're going to want at least a second controller at some point. PS3 supports up to 7 controllers (I have 5, 2 with rumble), so that's a lot of money that people don't usually factor into the cost of the console.

Microsoft especially will love this model. Heck, they could be giving their consoles away for practically nothing and it would still cost you a lot to get all the WiFi...

Yeah but at least one of them is _only_ one of the best games ever created (MGS4) and LBP looks as though it's shaping up to join its ranks. There's already been a vast number of PSN titles that are well worth picking up, and Wipeout HD and Socom are only going to strengthen that.

I agree that the PS3 lineup is not as strong as some would have had us believe, but that's mainly due to games like Killzone 2 being pushed back into next year. Other games such as Team ICO's game have ...

Yeah but how hard can it be to put trophies in that are just the same as the achievements? You've already got the code to tell when someone gets the achievement, just change the Xbox-specific achievement unlocked code into PS3-specific trophy awarded code.... I can't see it being more complicated than that. And by the time it releases the trophy code will have been available for many months.

And what's worse for MS is that they now have not much leeway to drop the price further. What if the price drop _doesn't_ cause a big boost in sales? What if its effect drops off after 1 or 2 months? What then?

Sony has a price drop in-hand, they can happily drop the price of the PS3 when it suits them and they will still be able to drop it further. If MS did that it would be more like a firesale. If the sales of the 360 start to overtake the PS3's again, Sony still has the optio...

Well it seems reasonable for a release date, but it's more than a year off. Even if it were the actual date it's still subject to change.

6412d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I'll believe it when I see it.

Hopefully you're right about many more these features being in the final release, but I think if home releases this year then some features will come later.

6412d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yes of course I know it's free - but when we still don't have features that were promised, and previews shrug this off as "it's just a beta", home looks like it could launch without these features, and they may not see the light of day for another year. I know it's free and I don't have to use it, but I _was_ anticipating it until I actually looked at the feature list and wondered what I would actually use home _for_.

6412d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

I am very disappointed in the lack of content in home. I mean, home was meant to release last october, here we are a year later and there's STILL no trophy room? In the bowling your characters just sit there using their psychic powers to move the ball? No rooms for uncharted/warhawk yet? Even WITH all these things home would still be lacking in features, without them I can see why home has not yet been released.

Home will not release this year. The public beta will release this y...

This is where you shouldn't translate 3/5 as 6/10 - whereas 6/10 is looked upon as poor in the current review system due to "review score inflation", think of 3/5 as 3 stars; and 3 stars out of 5 is a decent game worth picking up. 4 would be pretty good, and 5 is awesome. Even a 2 star game is not a complete flop: it has its virtues.

Cartoony FPS. It was fantastic fun on split-screen, one of the traditional pick up guns/ammo/health icons type FPSs. And you couldn't jump... but TS2 at least had a rather good level editor. Oh and the "timesplitters" part? A story about a time machine so they could set the game in lots of different eras. Exceptional level design, great fun, and challenging.

It's not a sandbox game as many games have been. If that is waht you are looking for in terms of "non-linear" then you will be disappointed. Games like GTA have a linear storyline and set missions, scripted events. They are as linear as they come. Heavy rain on the other hand has bendable storylines - you make the decisions. The button prompts you saw are just options which are context-sensitive, and were you looking at another thing you could interact with that, or if you decide no...
