Is it just me who got bored of COD4? It took me about 50 hours to get to maximum level (on PC), and every game just turned into the same nade spamming/martyrdom fest.
That's what it means in terms of what mark you need to get a C- in school, maybe. But the way metacritic have calculated it, of course there's never going to be a "right" way to do it, is to say that anything from C and under is a bad review effectively. I agree it's unfair because a C- implies the game does at least some things right and a 4.2/10 looks like the game fails in almost every way. But that's because "review score inflation" has hit numbered reviews moreso than...
Yes you can launch games from directly within home. Warhawk and motorstorm. There really aren't a lot of games that support that feature as of now, and I can't see that many games up to when home is released will support it either. I used trophies as an example of a feature that is patched into only a very small percentage of games, and games are coming out, after trophies have been released, without trophies.
so is this how you post at 0.#!?!?
Obviously not.
Any software that is in development for so long is in trouble. As I see it, they've lost sight of their original aims in order to focus on creating a really graphically impressive world where you can customise your character and your flat, without thinking what you will use home for. The idea of home, is of a meeting space where you can see your online friends, compare trophies, maybe do one of the silly minigames to pass the time, then launch into a game together. Home has only had game laun...
I remember reading in a recent LBP interview that they are now aiming for oct-sep. So it might be released a little later so we can all enjoy socom/bioshock until then. Makes sense, considering the studio behind LBP has not made a full-scale game as a company before.
Ninja gaiden II has an 81 score on metacritic. It didn't flop.
Heavenly sword had a huge amount of hype as I recall and we ended up with a better-than-average, short game. Kind of like too human, but more favourably reviewed. But saying that ratchet and clank flopped is ridiculous. I know it was mostly the same gameplay as the previous games, but the graphics were the best on consoles at the time, and it was just polished and well-executed. It didn't flop in terms of sales either.
Too human won't flop. Look at haze - it didn't flop in terms of sales (not majorly so anyway) because it had a huge marketing push. Including a quote and 5 stars from FHM lol. I've seen a lot of advertisements, especially on the internet, for too human. Many people downloaded the demo and that will persuade more people to buy it than to not buy it, if you see what I mean.
If you see some of the more recent videos (of just the woman's eyes for example) you can see that the animation is a lot smoother and it looks very lifelike.
I never had anything against random encounters. And I like turn based combat with strategy and none of these gambits that play the game for you. FF10 I think nailed the combat system. OK so the sphere grid was complete sh1t but the way it listed whose move came next was very good IMO.
We all had hope for haze because of the developers. They made timesplitters ffs, so haze should have been great. And haze boasted features such as split-screen, and bots, which whilst not amazing have not really been present this gen. But it was not hyped as much or for as long as too human. And I had not even heard of lair before it failed.
PS3 superior version, hmm?
Must be pretty small margins on a £10 blu-ray release I would think. I thought it was going to be download only.
Thing is, I can remember causing many roadblocks again and again, then blowing up all the cars, then shooting loads of pedestrians, then shooting the cops as they came after me. Back in GTA1. And then GTA2 was more of the same, really. GTA3 the most fun bits, again, were causing roadblocks and blowing up stuff. But you could also fly around in a tank (or was that vice city?) and there were lots of things to muck around with. But vice city was more of the same, and I even gave up san andreas b...
I know. But I'm saying, that people WILL factor in BC in their console purchase. They won't use it, but it has affected sales by removing it. In people's minds, BC is important, but if they actually had the console they wouldn't end up using it much.
It is really a shame that they have taken out all the backwards compatibility. I can understand why they did it; they asked a sample of the people with launch PS3s how often they used the BC, and the answer came back - not at all really.
But the truth is, people like to see that it is there, in _case_ they might want to use it. It's an easy sell for the PS3 - "get a PS3 you can play all your old games on it and some great new ones too" is better than "get a PS3, it...
We're comparing RRPs, though, I'm sure you can find PS3s for less than £299.
Yeah the only reason I was excited for haze, and then massively disappointed when I saw the reviews, was because it featured split-screen with bots, and even split-screen online. It was finally a game that was trying to add great features that we had last gen but are missing this gen. Then it sucked.
Don't think of it like water in other platformers (where you just fall in and die, the water is static). They said when they add water, they want it to behave like water, flow along, things float in it etc. It's more than possible with the processing power of the PS3, 2d fluid dynamics is miles simpler than 3d and it's the kind of thing the PS3 is suited to (lots of repetitive computations). They have said, if the community want it, they will add it, BUT they are basically leading us into wan...
I see why they mentioned haze though.
Marketing haze the way it was was very bad for the PS3. Whilst halo 3 is THE game for the 360, and is pretty good however you want to spin it, I'm sure many have seen haze for PS3 and compared it. Of course it doesn't hold up at all lol. So many of the only-play-a-few-games-a-year public will view haze as a major title for PS3, and so the PS3 will go down in their estimation.
