I really agree. It's becoming like sports games. Why can't we have 1 installment every few years then be amazed, as it is we're going to see very little improvement from COD4-5-6. At least that's how I see it. Make something new and fresh!

You can get people to join your game _whilst_ you are in home. And you should know, in warhawk (or games in general mostly), when you get about 8 people to join a game people then flood in and it's full until people start going to sleep or the server's shut down. So just find 8 people in home to start a game of warhawk with and you'll have a full game in no time. I can't host a game with more than 4 players unfortunately (no ranked games, means no bandwidth donor trophy for me).

You can do this for specific games, certainly. I pretty much only play warhawk online but that has a great feature in that regard. Just go down my friends list and hit join game. In-home game launching, again, will only be for specific games I believe.

I can't actually think of a game that could rival this as best FPS this year. Maybe Crysis: Warhead? Then again, that's a pretty short game, pretty much just a slightly improved version of crysis (got very good reviews though). Have I forgotten about a really huge FPS this year? Or is Resistance 2 the only great one?

The devs said you can turn that feature off ;)

Is "badass" something that only Americans can understand? Because I don't know why I would want a game that is "more badass". Bigger and better I agree. But that's what resistance 2 is. Hey maybe "more badass" means that the characters have an even more exaggerated muscular build?

It's expansive, and it has a unique look. I agree, it's not always that impressive, especially those trees, but some of those shots you can't deny look awesome (most notably the ones with the huge ships in the background). I think the graphics (at the moment) are inconsistent, it looks amazing one second then lacklustre the next. Particle effects could do with some work (I presume this doesn't take very much effort to polish at the last minute), the environments (not the backdrops or the char...

You can queue up downloads, though. Plus, I'd prefer to download 1 thing at a time rather than have 4 things at 90% and unable to play/watch them. You can always pause one download and start the other one first.

I think there's one thing that could go wrong. Sh1t servers. If people have trouble uploading and downloading content, and playing games online against/with other people that could be a serious drawback to the game. I believe there's going to be a beta test, but will they roll out enough servers to cope with the load? I'm sure they will underestimate (at least at first), but I hope it doesn't become a big and recurring problem.

I'm not so sure. There are a LOT more games being bought around christmas time, and you have to remember, people don't ONLY buy games when they are released. So if they try to release it before christmas instead of after, they hope to pick up at least some of the christmas sales and just as many people will buy it afterwards (if they haven't got it already).

Christmas. If they release it in november they can get all of the christmas sales.

Yeah but you can't just force it upon the consumer. Let's say a company decided to release on blu-ray only when it's not yet the norm. They would lose a f***ton of profits that they would have got from the DVD release. If lots of companies started doing it anyway (in some sort of cartel) then one rebel might release on DVD as well and all the consumers who are refusing to buy blu-ray would make them a load of profit. We have to remember, many people don't even have HDTVs yet. Blu-ray is a big...

It's not the lossily compressed audio. It's impossible to tell the difference between lossily compressed and uncompressed audio if the "lossiness" is sufficiently low. Just look at JPG images - indistinguishable from the actual picture if the picture quality is at 100 (and yes that still means it's lossily compressed). I'm sure the quality on Warner Bros' sound can be improved, however, it's not lossless compression that's necessarily the key. If anything, just having a lower level ...

The gameplay in the original crysis was great I thought - the strategies involved with the expansive, destructible (well the cardboard houses were) environments and the nanosuit were truly something I'd never experienced before. The physics engine is as impressive as the graphics engine, with trees falling around you when you're being shot at and trying to hide behind them, buildings collapsing around you when someone tosses a grenade in. And also the atmosphere - no doubt the graphics had a ...

It's purely because of the regions. Okay so a PS3 _can_ play the American version, but UK is in a PAL region so it's handled with all the european stuff. What _I_ don't get is the fact that whilst it's localised for all the different languages in europe, it's not for English. I mean WTF? Can't we have some proper spelling here? They just can't be bothered, "Oh it'll do they can read it."

What about LittleBigPlanet? And Wipeout HD? There ARE games that you'll find great this year, it's a shame you're not too excited about most of the titles but hey that's your opinion.

I too am waiting for an RPG but I don't want to see just a rehash of all the same elements. We've seen that already. I want to see an RPG that really reinvents the genre WITHOUT introducing lame real-time battles (cmon where's the strategy in that). Even just a story-based game would be nice (loved ...

I think there's a chance that by 2012 many more homes will have a decent speed broadband connection to enable digital downloading of films, but there WILL be homes without a fast broadband connection, and there's a chance not many homes' connections will be improved. I would love to download all my games and films, but the fact of the matter is that I don't have enough hard disk space. I've uninstalled most of the games on my steam account as it is. I've no guarantee that steam will always be...

I think Wipeout HD's going to take that crown, personally. Those textures are SHARP.

Because if you buy qore you're probably anticipating ALL games and can't wait to try this one out. It's like people who apply for all the betas. It's not quite a beta, it's polished like a demo, but it's not quite finished and ready to release to everyone. It's just appeasing the fans.

I do take your point though, they really should have put the 80% complete marker or whatever on the game. (Unless they did already, I don't have the demo)
