That trailer and gameplay footage looked incredible. I don’t think we’re ever going to see this game, which sucks… but the longer time goes on, I think the less likely that the game is going to see a release. Especially since we will be talking about new systems next year.

I’ll never understand why any third-party developer would rule out any one platform and lose that money. Makes no sense whatsoever. Do you lose a chance to grab an audience that may have never played the franchise before and would buy games in the future. It’s a shame. Then again, the majority of sales for this franchise happen in Japan… Where the Xbox brand barely exists. Which I’m guessing is the number one reason why.

i’m interested to see what it looks like. For the first time today I played The Division on my X and even with its upgrades, it doesnt look great. Even worse is it gameplay. One big hit box. Targeting body parts means nothing in the game. It is also a very linear environment. Meaning the entire map is one big façade. I love these games. Never played 3. Im hoping they are remastered with new high resolution textures, effects, models and 4K HDR on the X and Pro. The games are just mindless fun.

I was just coming in here to say the exact same thing. Bethesda has to trash this game engine and build a new one based off of modern technology. This game looks no better than Fallout 3 did, no better than Oblivion. It looks terrible compared to every other modern open world title. Even independent studio design games look better than this.

The only thing I can think of is it’s less than a month away. This is one of those once in a generation titles, a game so far ahead of its time that it makes this gen systems seem like next. Showing gamers gameplay that they didn’t think was possible on their current hardware.

Perception is key here. I do blame the internet for a lot, as people seem to verbally communicate less and expect more quicker, but gaming has really only benefitted from it. Patches(as much as we hate them) help fix broken games or make them better. Additional content helps prolong that games life and achievements give an 80s/90s arcade kick to the home based content.

I Just loaded up on Gamepass @ $60/ year for the next 5 years. This notion that they tricked you into buying demos is BS! Noone bitches about Gamefly and its essentially the exact same thing. The difference... Gamefly is a lot more expensive. I play single player only, therefore when I beat a game... Im usually done with it. Especially now, when so many great games launch near every week.

I’ve never understood the lack of product placement advertisement in games. They can offset cost by doing so. I’ve been saying the same thing for the past 20 years. It makes no sense whatsoever, especially with how many people play video games, that they haven’t done this yet.
Publishers and developers could have been doubling, tripling or quadrupling or more their profits. Wasted potential.

This is nuts, they are taking physics and simulation to the next level. Im just wondering what the issue was with the Avalanche engine... Was it just that they were expecting better CPUs in current gen systems and got surprised by the choices Sony and Microsoft made... or was it just not designed well to scale across so many platforms?

Ghost Recon: Wildlands and For Honor on the X proved that 1800p with near ultra PC settings, looks much better than 4K without. As long as resolutions dont hit at under 1800p for 4K users and HDR is mandated, Im fine with it. Anything under starts to look blurry on 4K sets, even with temporal reconstruction or checkerboarding.

I agree. It puts you into the character, makes you a part of the universe in a way that mimics reality. Something third person can’t do. They aren’t going for the over arcing storyline that involves intense emotion, they are going for a mercenary who is doing everything he can to get out of a dire situation.
I think it would benefit developers, in any case, to offer gamers a choice. Kind of like GTA V. So you can play either way, that way both camps are happy and the gamers...

Games like a Forza 7, Ghost Recon: Wildlands(yes, at 1800p, though with higher quality textures and tessellation, etc., though 1800p with ultra quality presets looks better than 4K without), Far Cry 5, Gears Of War 4, Middle Earth: Shadow Of War, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Sea Of Thieves, State Of Decay 2 or any game that uses 4K textures proves otherwise. If a developer takes the time and truly takes advantage of the X or the Pro, it can happen.
