Yeah, business works by mostly stepping on people's happiness or satisfaction.

The bigger picture here is that all of this dilemma for a mediocre piece of entertainment.

If only modern reviewers held any credibility.

If you read modern reviews you should have realized that most game reviewers review games as if they are playing games for the first time.

Devs are not solely to blame (Tsk tsk Activision), but the customers are also humans.

Am an RPG fan., still doesn't seem interesting. Feels tedious if not anything else.

Tbh I would rather them not convert good franchises into one of those games that they add to their blob of absolutely mediocre open world games.

Celebrities talking about anything (Including games) is just as shallow as modern Metacritic scores unless ofc there is objective verifiable proof that they are a connoisseur of the thing they are talking about.

@JackBNimble

I don't plan to buy Borderlands 3 ever. Someone pressured me into buying Borderlands 2 GOTY and when I looked at the number of DLCs and the DLCs that I hadn't gotten, I was horrified. I am not one to support those kinds of egregious business practices, so I shall NEVER buy Borderlands 3.

Inb4 'Your library must be limited'. No, there are a ton of games that don't treat the customers like shit. AAA releases are crap anyways...

Nope. AAA games are usually money grabbing games. I would rather see the artistic side of the medium, not the one that wants to nickel dime customers. Concrete Genie looks awesome.

Well, at least you were right in saying that I don't play games with MTs because I didn't pick up Mario kart. I am not defending Nintendo btw.
And no, people need to be able to differentiate between a good game and a bad game. It is a very poor excuse to have "Let them play what they want" mentality. If everybody were allowed to do what they wanted, this world would be in anarchy.
I didn't make any assumptions on you either. I was talking about the gene...

So I can't try games now? Is that the new angle you are taking? Because that way I have picked up Destiny 2 for free too. And I played CoD MW (OG) 4 years ago. And no that wasn't bought by me.

As for Gears of War 4, I got it free with my GPU (GTX 1070 in 2016), so I played it just to try it, got bored in the first 3 or 4 hours. I especially remember immediately uninstalling the game after AN EXTREMELY CRINGEY DIALOGUE:

Sidekick- How do you always ...

Oh Jukins, I am so sure Gwent brings in just as much as CoD, right?

And SJW where? I just don't support EA, Ubisoft and Activision. I give Bandai Namco, Square Enix (Not currently) and a few others chances.

From this generation alone

Nier: Automata
Persona 5
Nioh
Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne
Yakuza 0/1 Kiwami

Coming to the indies
Hollow Knight
Ori & The Blind Forest
Furi
Shadow Warrior 2

As for Nintendo, I was talking about Zelda and Mario (Not Mario Run) and I didn't find any MTs.

NeoGamer

CD Projekt Red? Devolver Digital? Nintendo (At least on their first party console exclusive titles)? Focus Home Interactive?

Yes not all of them are AAA, but if we keep supporting shitty companies who make shitty games, what do you expect?

Calling someone 'elitist' is an easy way to just get out of an argument because "Hey you think you are superior to us, so I can't do anything about it"

And no I am not a fan of open worlds. I absolutely despise the industry's trends of going to Ubisoft's open world template. You also missed the entire point. Linear games when done right are good. I also gave examples, but I guess you didn't see them.

No one is an elitist;...

You gave 60$ to a shitty company, I don't think you need an answer from me.... Look within yourself.

I don't pride the fact that idiots are keeping industry afloat, nor do I want idiots caring about the me, I don't think they can even care for anything. Lack of empathy is another concept that you shouldn't be proud of. But oh well.

Eh... I am not one for bashing companies or even giving my blood to them in blind loyalty.

I just call bull when I see bull. Most AAA games are filled with Bull anyways. Look at TLOU2's editions. No one is calling out on how even the Special Edition (Out of 4 editions) of TLoU2 doesn't get you the OST, just some PSN Avatars (*claps*). For reference, even Cyberpunk's base version (Of the 2 versions) gets you the OST. Call me entitled, but if one company can do it...

I am totally going to be that annoying guy who says "But all of those games are 90 or above on Metacritic brooo"

But yeah, for me Metacritic score might as well be house-fly poop. Those games excel in game design- Nier: Automata integrates music into its gameplay, has philosophy unlike any other game out there, gameplay is smooth, the emergent gameplay (Kind of like Deus Ex) kept me going.

Witcher 3's narrative was so much more fleshed out, ...

I thought we were discussing game stories in general?

Never thought genre would have any bearing on the type of story being told. If you want me to answer in terms of a more digestible "linear action game with a decent story that could easily be told through a movie" then I guess I don't have an answer. All of my favorite stories are RPGs that utilize the full potential of video games as a medium of story-telling, not linear games that can very easily be conve...

For me, it was just forced tearjerker moments honestly, from Sarah to Tess to those brothers to Joel's brother to that cannibal and in the end to saving Ellie for his own selfish reasons. The selfishness I can understand honestly, but the rest of it felt too forced to me.
