Feels like one as well. Just bloated to 20 hours or whatever the game time is.
By a handful, you would be including every from IGN to Kotaku to Vice to Polygon more than half of the industry. Basically anyone who has ever whined about Dark Souls difficulty falls under the bracket.
Nah.... Idc about Witcher 3, but I seriously wonder what the other games are. It would be interesting or funny depending on the choices.
Haven't played his game, but modern media is a joke
Wonder what your list looks like :o
It's not even a Soulslike tho :/
It is more somewhere between Ninja Gaiden and Souls. The only aspect it has of Souls is the amrita dropping and shortcut to levels. Apart from that it is a through and through grindy version of something like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden. It has it's flaws, but the combat system is just amazeballs.
Omissions that MUST have been there- Hollow Knight, DMC5, Yakuza 0, Rocket League, Nioh, Celeste, Return of Obra Dinn and some more that I can't think of rn....
So many good indie titles out there.
Yeah, they missed Ori & The Blind Forest. But then they also missed Hollow Knight, so it is understandable.
I do have some disagreements with the list, but I have to say. What a breath of fresh air to have all content on one page.
"If cutscenes are a crutch, could someone not argue that interactive outcomes (ie. multiple endings, hero/villain paths) are a gimmick?"
You realize you just stated the obvious? "INTERACTIVE OUTCOMES" in an "INTERACTIVE MEDIUM". You can't choose outcomes in any other media without it being jarring. In games it is a fluent transition depending on how well it is pulled off.
"One guy didn’t think there was more after he...
If you like games like Deus Ex or Dishonored this will be right up your alley.
"In games, that structure sees the experience split into cutscenes for the story and gameplay for the engagement, and that dualism has proven seemingly insurmountable for developers."
This. This is why you can't take most games these days seriously. If you have a narrative independent of the gameplay, where the gameplay has 0 effect on the story, it defeats the point of 'interactive medium'. Anyone can take two separate halves of a medium and join them...
Kojima is on the panel though so ummmm....?
Yes it is selected by a bunch of 80 or something people/judges/media houses but we are talking about a generation that cries about difficulty and reviews broken games at 7s and 8s. Also a generation of media that is full of people with agendas that look deep into places where nothing exists. *SJW intensifies*
All awards are practically usless considering the size of the industry. The more money someone puts in, the higher chances of getting seen by awards shows.
YouTubers doing awards hold more credibility since they dig deep, play more games individually and are not contractually obligated to act according to a corporate's whims.
Ahh I see you didn't read the whole article. If you read ahead the statement continues to "More importantly.....". Kotaku did a more comprehensive article on Geoff and Kojiman's friendship and the panel structure was touched upon. https://kotaku.com/death-st...
This article was more focused on how the nominations, categories and the overall...
Hope to get another masterclass.
This time in cyberpunk. Holy hell. It'll be like Deus Ex and Planescape in 2020 with Cyberpunk 2077 and Gamedec (If both of these games turn out that good). Good year for cyberpunk genre.
Implying Valve can count till 3
