So....

CDPR makes Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 (And it's lengthy ass DLCs), Arkane makes Dishonored 1, 2, Prey and Death of The Outsider, From Software makes Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro, Supergiant makes Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades, Platinum makes MGR, Bayonetta 2, MGR, NIER: Automata and Astral Chain.

Here you are saying a shitty GaaS game and its developer is GOTG/DOTG.... What horsecrap is this.

DMC5 is so far ahead in the generation when it comes to the action part, it is not even funny.

Watta game.

Basically the kind of story that has been repeated (Better than this too) a thousand times.

Hyperbole clickbait trash

Not to mention StarWars is a functional game that was expected to be shit. When it came out function, people blew its hype to extreme highs.

Narratively it is among the best games(If not the best) of the gen. Gameplay wise, it is a very old school-ish style RPG, definitely will be a climb for many people who are new to this style.

Do not underestimate the stupidly short attention span of the general masses.

Which company?

Activision and Ubsioft are equally dumpster fire companies.

Classic case of having low expectations from a shit company but the game turns out functional so everyone thinks it's really great.

Game of The Year by a bunch of people who whine about the difficulty in games (A majority of the media). So uhhh I don't get your point?

I felt the stealth in Sekiro was very contrived, the same goes for combat in some cases (Mikiri counter and jump evades). The stealth felt so unthoughtful, enemies would forget in a few seconds that the player existed, made cheesing easy. Even an indie game like Aragami had basic sense to put every enemy on alert once player was detected or a dead body was. Apart from that, all the platforming segments felt contrived too.

I personally don't like contextual mechanics in ...

In all seriousness though, God of War was just meh to me.

Shoehorned RPG elements, semi-open world, even more walking segments and peppermints of TLOU.

I didn't like the game.

The franchise already was a casual version of DMC games which was fine for whiling away time, at least that was fun. Now it just became a homogenized mess of shoehorned RPG elements, semi-open world, even more walking segments and peppermints of TLOU.

This is without even mentioning the gameplay problems I had with cooldown based attacks, snapping of Kratos to enemies and the up the bum camera. It was a chore to complete honest...

2018 was the consistent one.... DBFZ, Celeste, Spiderman, Into The Breach, The Messenger, Return of Obra Dinn, Hitman 2, Mega Man 11 etc were peppered throughout the year.

2019 was the peak one. DMC5 is easily in my fav games of the gen and by far easily the best action game of the gen. Not sure about Sekiro since I felt it wasn't nearly at the level of Bloodborne or DS, but it was a great game nonetheless. Very few others stood out this year- Bloodtsained, The Outer Wo...

It looks meh.... Pretty tame for a next-gen game. Then again, we haven't really evolved since the PS2/PS3 era of games.

A movie game with barely any interactivity with this much CPU requirements? Huh.

Ehhhh.... If it's just for voice acting, I would say Doug Cockle for Geralt (Witcher 3), Elias Toufeix for Adam Jensen (Deus Ex: Human Revolution), Reuben Langdon for Dante (DMC5) and quite a few others would replace a lot on that list.

I feel people who can be dry with their tone while still expressing tons of emotions are severely underrated. Then again mass audiences aren't built for subtlety.
