If only bigger meant better.
Ori & The Will of The Wisps and Doom Eternal are extremely good GOTY contenders with actual non-contextual gameplay smh.
That's a shite game at that point. I mean the game itself is shite. Idk about Sea of Thieves, but these games, from an objective standpoint (FO76 and GR) are pretty much dumpster fire MTX bs.
Try a game called Trepand2 on Steam
That's like almost every RPG ever. Any RPG that is around 30-40 hours long at minimum will have a slow 4 hours. Yakuza 0 had a pick up time of around 5-7 hours; not an RPG, but has open world with varied side quests, so you can imagine what true RPGs can be.
This looks gorgeous tbh
Nothing wrong in comparing two pieces of art. Comparing is an invariable cause of competition and we all know competition inspires growth.
Yes these are old games, but the argument that one piece of art cannot/should not be compared to another is simply regressive in nature.
I am not abusing the window. I kept the game after the window.
As I said above, it is about the sense of urgency to see whether the game can offer enough to make me want to keep it or not.
ElementX
I have refunded tonnes of games over the years on Steam. Till now, I haven't received anything. Plus it's not like I am going to refund every game in this section. Like Ori I didn't refund, Death's Gambit, I did (Not a bad game by any means, but would buy at a discount)
1. Being stupid is subjective, so I won't comment on that.
2. It is a Metroidvania because it has- 2D open world with skill gated parts of the map. The world opens up more and more as you keep gaining abilities.
Google definition that is also considered by many as a good template for a metroidvania- The term 'Metroidvania' is most often used to refer to a platforming game that features a single large, interconnected map, generally with discrete rooms or...
The idea came about in the sense that, as a buyer of game, I am someone who likes to save money and try out various games since I have a limited budget. So when I get into a game on Steam, there is a sense of urgency to explore as much of the game as possible so that I can decide if I am going to keep it or not.
In this case, it was kind of unjustifiable because I knew that the game was going to be quality from the very start. But I know this format makes more sense for hid...

Seriously like chill out with that heavy game journalism vibe.
I think you should. I personally didn't think it was ever dragging on and Ori is far less pubishing than Hollow Knight.
But in spite of every challenge that HK throws at you, once you surpass them, the feeling is indescribably euphoric.
I am just wondering..... Have you played Hollow Knight?
Doesn't look that different.
If the game didn't have Spiderman attached to it, I wouldn't have bought it. And tbh the more I think about it, the more I feel it was just fun, not something innovative. I played it for Spiderman, not the mechanics.
And apart from that, again, I haven't bought any others.
I do crave innovative games and usually go for them. I haven't bought a conventional AAA game in the past 2-4 years. All indies.
Idk why people even follow Metacritic.
"Its great to see the leader of the publishers coming out and talking about games and the future."
This is as false as a turd smelling good. I have never watched a CEO of one of these big publishers come out and give me hope for a better future. All I see is a bunch of corporate people trying and succeeding into nickel diming idiots or selling a casualized product to the normies.
The other things I agree on.
@tay
Average games? lul
No wonder Doom and Doom Eternal are usually touted as the FPSs of the gen
And Ori is an artistic achievement. Yes its story is as generic as TLOUs, but the animation, art and music are just second to none.
I mean TLOU won GOTY awards by critics who whine about difficulty in games in a dismal year which had the likes of GTA V (Weakest GTA in history. Before you say most selling, sales are a not a measure of quality...
