@MVGeneral
Woolly mentioned Xbox's new feature regarding hard drives and only installing what you want and not everything at once. Gamerfanboi seems to think that's bad, and I don't agree. I used Doom as an example because that was part of the topic we are on.
I perfectly understand that the Switch and Nintendo aren't doing this as a convenience, but more a necessity.
@GamerFanboi
No it's not bad, its just a way for consumers to download what they want and cater the experience to them. When I played Doom on my PS4 I didn't touch the multiplayer aspect at all, but I still had to download that portion. I would have rather not.
That's completely fair. I can understand that point of view. They did mention recording functionality during their Switch reveal, but I've yet to see where it is. There are a lot of ways they are behind in their online infrastructure. I wouldn't want to pay for the service now, that's for sure. For me out of game party chat, digital discounts, and recording are what it would take for me to pay for the service. Otherwise, I guess Splatoon 2 will be sitting on the shelf.
I never said I was going to pay for it, and, I guess I'll say this again, we don't know what the consistency will be when it launches. I'm asking a simple question, and you're rigid disposition isn't even considering the question or my explanation.
Edit: You edited your response to bring out a bit more of how you are feeling about the question and their service. I appreciate that. You are right, it is unlikely that Nintendo will drastically improve it. W...
Special edition is what the enhanced version of the game on the Xbox One and PS4 were called. It has enhanced lighting and textures, as well as more consistent framerates and a higher resolution.
Sega isn't necessarily innocent either. It's awesome that they've allowed fans to interact with the Sonic series, but they've cancelled quite a few fan projects back in their day. Such as the Streets of Rage fan project.
Luckily, the download itself can't be pulled by Nintendo though.
That's a pretty ridiculous point of view, in my opinion. We don't really know what it's competency will be when the actual paid service launches, and what makes up competency in your opinion (which is really what I was asking)? Hypothetically, if the online service launches with voice chat/party chat, custom matchmaking, communities, and everything else found on the competition but lacks, say, the monthly deals that PS+ does...is it still incompetent at 20$ a year vs 60$?
...
Honest question here: What's your threshold? How inferior can it be before it's cheapness no longer matters and you don't want to pay for it?
The bunch of you here on N4G are way too negative. It's a portable console. It's cool that it can run it at all.
Wow, people are going pretty ballistic over an opinion piece. Calm down guys, everyone has their own perspective.
@81BX
It's over the top because he is refusing to support an entire companies products because he doesn't agree with one particular game that caters to the LGBT group.
That's certainly your decision, but it seems pretty over the top to me. In my opinion, someone's sexual preference shouldn't affect you this much.
I'll see you in a year when the sales of the Switch has surpassed that of the Wii U. Until then I hope you have fun with your console of choice. I know I'll be having fun with my Switch/PS4 combo.
I think it's because of the Destiny 2 Pro bundle, honestly.
The Switch has exclusives complimenting those ports too, so I don't understand your point.
There is literally no other good solution for the Switch. Game carts are the only way.
I think that the definition of a dead console changes between people. To me a console is dead when it's lacking in major first or third party support for a long period of time (foreseeable future), or it's simply discontinued. There are people that still make games for all types of consoles (Even the Wii received a new game just this March), but I'd still consider those systems to be "dead".
To me, the Vita is very close to dead. It's clinging to ...
Can we also get a Bayonetta 1+2 for Switch?
I'll have to pick up Vanquish for the PS4. I played the demo on PS3 back in the day and loved it, but when it released it flew under my radar.
Not necessarily. The original Splatoon sold well, and let's not forget that Arms didn't debut as well as Splatoon 2 did. Which, according to your theory, it should have.
It's running in the original engine. Why else would they also be porting Wolfenstein 2 as well? Those are the only two games I know of that run id Tech 6, and its unlikely that Bethesda would create an entirely new engine and port all assets over for both games.
Also, the only missing feature is snapmap.
