I'm fine with a late 2020 or 2021 release. Sony's killing it with exclusives, so they can continue with that for now.
It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom though. If they just focus on first party/exclusive offerings they could at least make the next couple years good for their fans. They won't "catch up" though.
I just hope they learn from their mistakes for next generation.
@PhoenixUp
IDK...I mean your Wii purchases will transfer over to your Wii U. The exception is that your 3DS purchases don't transfer. Sounds pretty similar to me.
Oh, I see. You are counting Switch vs. PS4. I was thinking Nintendo vs. Sony (meaning 3DS and PSVR included), which would drastically increase Nintendo's published games.
Also, I think there were 11 published games for the Switch: Flip Wars, Fast RMX, Snipperclips, Splatoon 2, Arms, Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, 1, 2 Switch, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I'm not sure about "greatest", but it has been a tremendous year. Probably the best this generation so far. Personally, I still think 1998 is the greatest year.
"I can't say that the Switch won when it was Sony and third party devs that kept the games coming all year."
I'm pretty sure that Nintendo published more games than Sony did this year. Not saying Sony didn't give out great games, but you can't disregard all the titles that Nintendo did publish.
Well, this sounds exciting. Though I do kind of hope they are releasing soon so we have a lot of games leading into E3.
"Sony still has PS3 & Vita that can play PS1 Classics "
Okay, and the 3DS and Wii U have NES and SNES games sold on the eShop. That didn't stop Nintendo from creating the NES and SNES classics. I'm not saying it will happen, but I don't understand your reasoning.
If you take away Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda you still have Splatoon 2, Arms, Mario Kart Deluxe, Pokken Tournament, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. That's still not bad.
That's a very humble perspective.
I don't think that The Last of Us Part 2 will be coming out in 2018. Because of that my list would be more like this:
1. Spiderman
2. God of War
3. Red Dead Redemption 2
4. Ni No Kuni 2
5. Dreams
Though PSX also made me feel excited for Detroit: Become Human too.
They mentioned that in the article.
My mother literally called everything a Nintendo. Heck, she even called my PSP a "Game Boy"

Are you guys serious? You think there are no screaming kids on PSN but there are on Xbox Live?
This site is so incredibly biased it's unbelievable. Screaming kids are on both sides. You think no kids ask for a PS4?
@Dialga
Realistically, Sony could implement this at any time and it would be quite easy. They still have the vast amount of exclusives and more support than Xbox does as a whole, so it isn't like they are going to lose market share.
This is good for gamers. Quit thinking about Sony's lined pockets and business decisions.
@IGiveHugs2NakedWomen
There are plenty of PS4 gamers asking for it. I'm not sure why you think there aren't. Maybe they aren't on this forum, but, let's be honest, with the amount of disagree's I've received for my comment I don't think those people even want to be here.
Why are we looking at it from a business standpoint at all? Unless you are a part of that business or an investor it shouldn't matter. Just look at it from a gamer perspective, which you admitted it would be great for.
If it's great for gamers then why aren't we trying to support this? I can only think of one reason, petty fanboyism.
You think there aren't screaming kids on PSN?
It can stay competitive even when it has crossplay. There are still exclusive game lineups, differences in features, etc.
Crossplay would have very little effect on the competition as a whole.
@phoenixup
Okay, but not all PS1 Classics are available on PSTV and the PSTV has sold rather poorly so there is still a market they can capitalize on regarding microconsoles. Not to mention different demographics for those who may want a PS1 Classic vs. Buying a PSP/3/Vita.
None of what you said provides Sony with any real reason not to do it.
