It doesn't really matter if it's a loss or profit on the hardware. Well, as long as it's not a dramatic loss.
A gamer should only have to buy the system once, so they shouldn't be looking at console sales directly for profit. More importantly, the larger install base will lead to more sales of games, services, and accessories. (I'm looking at you $100 32gig memory card in my Vita)
The ps2 and Wii both had enough consoles out there that almost any g...
You know how you can tell he screwed up?
Every post on here has more agrees. He *bleeped* up enough to unite n4g even.
I think I'm in the same boat as everyone else; I laughed when I read the title.
My Polygon review preview:
The game somehow gets released multi platform: 8 or 9/10
The game releases as ps4 exclusive: 6/10
I thought about getting one for about five minutes.
Then I realized that I have a good android phone, a netbook which can run ps3 media server and transcode videos in the odd event that ps3 doesn't have a specific codec, and a couple of dualshock controllers which can work with both emulation and games on both my netbook and android phone. Ouya has, literally, no value for me.
I just hit 60 last night. From levels 59-60 I found 6 legendary items.
I'll probably buy it on ps4, too. Unless the expansion is included, the only thing that'll really be different is graphics. The only feature that I feel is lacking is bringing your save to a friend's house. Sure, you can do it two ways, but they're a hassle and both involve making a user account on the other's ps3. Hopefully, ps4 system user crap is optional and you can just use psn acc...
Sure, the guy might have been a dick.
She was a dick, too.
The difference is that she was the one on the clock in this scenario.
Many people out there get paid to handle this kind of crap. Most of them handle it better than she did. Personal info? What an idiot.
Certainly, I don't feel bad for her.
Really cool.
I was throwing the idea around of buying one, but now I'm pretty certain.
I agree with Volkama.
Two games back at the beginning of this console generation helped me come back after many years of heavy PC gaming. I'm talking about Rock Band and skate.
While one of these games is built to take advantage of the space you would typically find a console, the hold back on the other is that it was designed specifically for analog sticks on a gamepad. Perfectly doable on PC.
PC excels in many fields, but there are stil...
Yup.
Agreed.
But I don't know if the 2013 sales numbers will reflect it. With Japan missing, North America becomes a higher percentage of world wide sales. If Sony and Microsoft end 2013 around even, then it means Sony is gaining ground.
I believe that sales at the end of 2014 will be indicative of the rest of the generation.
The next gen race has not ended.
I'm a fan of Sony and have my ps4 already paid for. I also have no intention of buying an Xbox ever. But:
The vocal hardcore element online and the pre order numbers may point towards Sony being the company gaining ground, but how many casuals out there are just going to buy the new Xbox to play the new Call of Duty and maybe the new Assassin's Creed? A lot. Even if only in North America. The truth is that MOST of the ...
I'm in, too. I don't think that sales will be bad, either. It's family friendly and it's on the cheaper system. If the game is in that lower price range then it could be a Christmas hit. I never saw anything about the price, but Sly Cooper and the new Ratchet & Clank are both at the cheaper price point.
I love Sony's stable of 3D action platformers.
Edit: This game could be a little charmer. Who knows? By now we all have a good idea of wh...
Love the disagree.
It actually will be 23:00 here. GMT -3:30
A touch earlier would be nice, but 11 works for me.
11:00 PM here, woohoo!
How did Polygon even get their hands on the new one?
I honestly thought that site was a complete joke.
Bring back skate.
That's all I want from EA.
Yup. People seem to forget that the console hardware is not the part that makes the money. Why would it be? Ideally, you're only going to pay for it once.
Accessories, services, and games are where the profit is.
Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are all going for attach rate. Attach rate is the most important thing for a game console. The best way to achieve it is to get as many hardware units sold as possible.
I think that it's possible to increase development of Vita games from the new device.
If enough of them are sold, then large third party devs might give the Vita another shot. All they have to do is reduce the touch features and remove all the camera features. (which I would like for most games anyway)
A good bundle for this device could push a solid number of units. I'm thinking Minecraft, The Walking Dead, Killzone, etc.
They're still somewhat usable at least if you are going the PS4 route. You'll just have to plug them into the DualShock 4. You still get the rumble and all that; you just lose the VSS.
Also, I find mine work great with my Vita.
Same here, Transporter47.
It's something I would have noticed, too. I've never heard about this before this post, so maybe it was just a certain batch or something?
