It won't fail hard. I can't see why you won't just put Windows on it if you really need it.
If anything, the new hardware allows PC hardware vendors to more directly compete with game consoles.

Nexus devices are easily the best value out there. I'm itching to get the new Nexus 7 myself, but I don't have a real need for it as I already have Jelly Bean on my phone.

Obviously, this is true of Vita and PSP. This is not the case of PS3 though. They could have done the same thing that Microsoft does with the hard drives in the systems. They also could have chosen a different interface than mini USB for the PS3's accessories.

Some people complain that the EU Plus games are better. Obviously, the selection of games has to do with personal tastes.
I get upset because EU has now been consistently knowing which games they are getting much earlier than NA. I know I'm not the only one, too. I bet there's a lot of people who rush off to the US blog as soon as the EU blog make their post. Of course, the post is not there, and it won't be there for about two weeks.
The problem I see with it is adopting the control scheme. Obviously, it's no problem to get Dualshock compatibility going with Android. Getting Microsoft's and Apple's mobile devices on board may be a different story.
Sony uses Android and sells mobile devices, so, I agree, maybe we'll see an in-house testbed in a couple of years.
Anything that gets PC's shipping without Windows is 100% okay with me. People will probably take that as some kind of anti Microsoft fanboy-ism. I'm just pro-choice.
It's not like Windows can't run OpenGL. SteamOS doesn't harm the Windows running end user, unless Valve starts pushing game exclusivity.

As for the second, they take your money when it ships. I believe if you want to make payments you have to buy Amazon gift certificates and apply them. I have not done this myself, so I cannot attest to its legitimacy, but I've read of other people doing this.

It's a good deal. The new 12gb one is only $30 less and you don't get a 500gb hard drive, gta v, or (I believe anyway) 30 days of plus.
There were cheers for the new $199 sku, but I believe it should be cheaper than that. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they just need a replacement unit or already have a spare hard drive.

Size is probably the biggest factor. Heavy Rain is one of those PS3 exclusives that would probably need a few DVD's to hold.

Honestly, even though I never truly owned a 360, I really didn't think of batteries as a drawback. It's pretty simple to just get rechargeable ones.
It's true. Obviously, something like this cannot be proven, but we all know it plays a factor. I mean, if someone were going to buy a 3DS right now, then they would choose a colour that they prefer. It, certainly, doesn't mean that colour availability is anywhere near the main selling point. Available games, what friends play, and price are of much bigger importance. At the very least, the very young audience will go for the colourful item.

It is the same as vita. It has the same memory and game card slots. It has the insides of a vita.
It will play existing games, but features like touch and camera need to be patched out. Some games rely solely on touch so therefore they will never exist on it.
As for AAA games, who knows? The vita obviously suffers a lack of them now. Sure, more install base could lead to more of them, but AAA games usually want to show off good graphics. I'm not saying the vita ca...
Except that the share button is dedicated to that feature whereas the select button could do anything within a game. I think the touch click will be more like select.
I'm glad there isn't a start button anymore, Vita has me trained on using the PS button to pause. The start button on Vita really is just for options it feels.
