MS said during the tech interviews about the XB1 HW that they modified the command processors. MS also said after the Scorpio reveal that the Scorpio had the same DX12 HW as XB1. Scorpio has many other modifications besides the embedded DX12, but it at least shares that part of it's architecture with the OG console.
Matter of fact, Brad also said that DX12 was going to have a significant impact on XB1 performance way back when. That was the last thing he said before ...
PS4 has no games I want to play, so buying a Pro would be a waste of money, and it only benefits people with a 4K tv anyways. >If< I buy Scorpio, I would be playing on a 1080p set anyways, but there will still be lots of graphics enhancements beyond just a resolution bump that will make XB1 games on Scorpio look better on my current TV. Supersampling, 4K assets, higher LOD, etc.
Besides, I can already tell in the comparisons how much worse ME:A looks on a Pro vs. n...
Yeah, looking forward to hearing about that too!
Honestly, I played the first Bioshock until it started to resemble Pokemon Snap. It didn't really capture my interest at all, and I just quit after that face palm moment.
I much preferred System Shock, Deus Ex, Thief, and other older games over Bioshock and Dishonored. I even like the new Thief better than either franchise, TBH, and the new Thief was a let down.
I'm not trying to knock your preferences, BTW, just elaborating about my own!
PS4, why don't you ever get new features?
Prey = Borrowsuck.
Arcane makes garbage, and now they copy garbage. Everyone has their own opinions, but I hated both the Bioshock and Dishonored series of games.
Rude Ro, my comment was about Sony having the luxury of being able to wait longer to iterate its' products, not about MS and their business practices.
PS Pro seems odd to me, having come out a year before MS' mid gen when Sony has a better than 2:1 margin over the XB1. It stands to reason that it should have been MS rushing out new hardware, and if Sony had waited a bit longer every PS4 game would have hit native 4K without compromises. Nothing about the timing of...
I don't know if it's space bound, but I know it's not Earthbound!
Mind bogglingly boring.
^ This. I just did the same thing about 20 minutes ago, and everything's fine. Posting from my Xbox as we speak.
I agree, Chris. Honestly, Sony should have waited until 2018 to launch the Pro. They have such a commanding lead this gen that they could easily have ridden out the Scorpio storm while developing a true 4K capable machine instead.
Maybe.
New Monday, what is a GOAT contender? Do you mean GOTY, as in Game of the Year? Honestly don't know what a GOAT is...
Why are you all talking about PS4/PC anyways, when the article is about PS4/XB1 cross console play? Any time it comes down to a dev wanting to make a cross console game, Sony shoots it down. It's happened several times already. I didn't realize I had to spell that out for you guys...
FYI, both MS and Sony readily support PC cross play, and FFXI Online even had cross play between PS2, PC, and 360 but, again, it was through Play Online... not PS+ or XBL, which is w...
Which required Square Enix servers only, not PS+ or XBL...
Only because it's new. It'll slow down considerably after the first year, as 3rd party falls by the wayside and the Japanese market hits saturation.
MS already said they were okay with cross console, but any time it comes to a developer talking about why their game wasn't able to be cross console, they always point to Sony as being the problem. Sony painted the bad light on themselves.
Minecraft, OTOH, is a totally different circumstance and you know it. Mojang is working towards getting the PC, console, and portable versions of Minecraft to parity first. Each version currently supports features that the others d...
Technically, they shouldn't be able to run at all. It requires about 10 times the original systems' processing power to properly emulate a title, and XB1 is still improving things over the original in spite of inadequate horsepower AND a completely different architecture.
Let's see what Sony has to say about it.
Thanks for posting that, Regor L. That's the confirmation of DX12 HW in the XB1 command processor I was referring to.
