What genre isn't in danger of being played out? Are there many new genres yet to be discovered anyways? Why single out western RPG's?

For me, it's mainly the characters with their mitten hands and the low poly dog with no fur that brings the graphics down a notch. The rest of the game is looking great. None of that means the game will be less fun to play though, it's just an observation.

A phone, tablet, laptop, or PC is a multi-function device with a better screen that displays games at their native resolution. All I need is a free upgrade to Win 10 and I can stream XB1 to anything.

I just have to say that to me, every time Phil speaks he becomes more admirable. He just seems genuine in everything he does whether it's about the PC stage being for for PC stuff, Gamescom being mostly new over E3 topics, and once again applauding Sony for things like Uncharted and their inclusion of the MP beta. I can only hope this current trend continues as Sony needs some competition!
Complete graphics overhaul instead of slightly better rez/fps = better.
In a perfect world, they should have postponed the release. Plenty of other games have been bad when they released though like Elder Scrolls and Battlefield were last gen.
This is what happens when your lineup is looking a little sparse. MS did it with Halo last year, Sony is doing it now. Makes sense to add some filler every once in a while to keep the ball rolling.
I've never had a game take even close to five hours, but I always by day one. It's got to be the updates slowing things down by downloading at the same time.
Remember what Resident Evil used to look like with CG backdrops and rendered overlays? That's what Fallout 4 looks like in the trailer. If they update the models though the whole game will look beautiful. I don't see it being an issue either way because the game will be great to play.

Sony started doing exclusivity long before MS with games on PS2 like GTA3/Vice City and even back to PS1 with FF7 and many others, but what's your point? MS copied that approach with 360 but started things like Background Music, DLC, Guide access during gameplay, Gamertags, Friends Lists, Achievements, XBLA, and Smart Glass, all of which (and more) got copied by Sony.
This article is on point. The environments look great, but the character models practically look like cardboard cutouts. If they update the detail in the character models with things like TressFX and more polygons though it would make a big difference.
Native 4K gaming could only happen if TONS of other things are sacrificed to achieve it. Maybe a 2D Arcade title, for example. I would think we'd see >1% even attempt it though, as the resources would be better spent elsewhere. 4k upscaling is more likely but still remains unclear. Movies and photos are definitely going 4k in some form, as Win10 is supportive of H265 and I'm sure Sony can update the PS4 to H265 as well.

Yeah, it's polished on XB1, where the framerate is locked at 30fps. I'll take 900-1080p/30 over 1080p/20-30 any day.
