I wonder how things would have gone if PC devs had squeezed as much out of PC graphics as they do for current games consoles.
Just think how impressive a mainstream level PC would have looked if 5+ years ago we were seeing currant console graphics quality but without the memory and storage limitations.

I agree it was just irritating. My clan was in the middle of a Killzone 3 match when it all just came to a halt.

I wouldn't say there was a backlash against Sony even if it was the intention as I and the many other gamers were the ones stopped from enjoying online gaming last night.
I paid for the console and paid for the game so Sony and the publisher have their cash whether I'm able to play or not.
It doesn't help that there's no options to get a competitive price via Amazon, a superstore etc that would likely discount it by at least 30% or more.
It's the exploring the maps and finding hidden weapons, powerups, corridors/passages/portals etc, weird rooms or little bits from the devs that I really miss. UT99 was the ultimate for that sort of thing like shoot 3 lamps in a corridoor and a door in the wall would appear etc i.e. Secret Healing Shrine

I love how some consider it Microsofts responsibility for ppl to protect any valuables properly - in this case a decent password to protect the card details. Every time I buy anything on PSN, iTunes etc it asks for my password before completing the sale.
She should see this as a cheap wake up call as just consider what could have happened if the Xbox had been sold on etc.

Of course I got my DOF and FOV mixed up :) but basically everything feels zoomed in by default as though the FOV is something like 50.

I find the depth of field far too narrow - probably used to keep a decent framerate but I find it hard on the eye with close up objects.

Probably due to not enough ppl playing yet so rather than you connecting to other players nearby you are connecting to players over a much greater distance and lag is being introduced.
Returning to BF2 maps doesn't really do anything for me. What I want to know is will there be some BF1942 large scale maps - preferably using BF2/2142 scaling.
I don't think it's more about multiplayer either - it's just less content so they can sell extra content in instalments later.
There was a time when an fps game had 20-30 detailed large maps with full AI bot support, now it's no bots and 8-15 generally small pretty but basic maps with lots of hidden walls.
Another factor has been the amount of user content available for the PC. I have over 10,000 maps and mods for Unreal Tournament 99, 1000's for RTCW, Command and Conquer titles, BF1942 etc etc. and most maps support AI players so even if there's no longer online players you can still enjoy playing the maps.
On the other hand when there's little or no online gamers with console fps/3ps games etc you may as well throw them in the bin as there's rarely offline A...
Can't say I'm that bothered by stats; I enjoy fps gaming but what I do find frustrating is when there's various interruptions to the flow of the game whether it be from lag, host disconnects etc etc.
I do however miss the days of UT/Q3a/RTCW etc etc where there were 1000's of user made maps to enjoy.
Hmmm. I think I'll wait for the demo as from the single player and multiplayer footage I found the field of view far too narrow.
Maybe the real culprits are all the dishonest review sites who rather than reviewed the game in detail just said it was perfect when it was clearly quite the opposite.
While I agree there's no reason to expect it to be identical to another format (just as console owners don't expect PC graphics quality) I would expect an online multiplayer geared game to work online - which it just doesn't.
