I get lots of lag with BF3 while most other games run ok. I've tried to adapt to it but without much success and has resulted with a poor BF3 experience. Fortunately there are plenty of other fps games that don't exhibit this issue such as BFBC2, Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Cod series etc but I am frustrated that I paid the new release price for a game that still has a lag fault and up till just recently also had the audio fault.

Wasn't there meant to be a proper Co...

Unfortunately true - there are still only a handful of games / apps that fully support the iPad 2 and I doubt blu-ray quality movies will be readily downloadable for quite some time to come due to bandwidth limitations so TV / film rentals will continue to max at 720p.

The highway section should have been integral to the map's gameplay with all vehicles being able to drive across from one end to the other.
Would have given the map much more of a Battlefield openness feel.

Yup that's just what I've been doing - besides the big titles like BF3 I'm also enjoying the play4free games like NFS world and a host of older titles I've not played for awhile.
My PC is getting on a bit with a 8800GTS512 GPU but even older games look so much clearer and easier on the eye.

So if Microsoft switch to real currency cards like iTunes, PSN, Amazon vouchers etc I don't quite see how that will have much of an effect on anyone as you'll still be buying a monetary value card to transfer to your account rather than using a credit card etc and you'll likely still be buying them from the same places you purchased the MS points cards with much the same discounts.

The tax isn't in the cards just like cheques,CC's as it's classed as an...

I found R1 to be very good and unique in it's dark graphics (they should have stayed with it), couldn't get on with R2 as the graphics were ugly and flat.

Enjoy R3 though but it lacks multiplayer variations and options like x weapon only, no upgrades matches etc. and the standard mp games can be frustrating if you've only just started playing and only have a few upgrades v someone with everything as the gap is just too huge - unlike CoD, BC, BF games etc

Maybe because some of use also play on a PC too and realise what good image quality really is and the current PS3/360 are miles behind - they don't even natively support most ppl's current 1080p TV's thus requiring upsampling.

I'd be happy if the next Gen consoles are fully backwards compatible and just added anti alaising, anisotropic filtering and texture sharpening where necessary to existing titles.

It's all the scenery textures aswell. The E3 images looked more like they'd come off a PC than a console.

Whether it was BC1, BC2 or BF3 I have always enjoyed playing Cod titles too (though it seems MW1 & 2 online has been disabled on PS3).
Never understood why the media seems to go out of its way to just promote one while slagging off the other.

"In all seriousness, the speed is almost on par with the Call of Duty series now, but this is by no means an attempt to copy Activision’s franchise"

So BF1942 speed then - finally!

It doesn't help the franchise that there's now much more competition coming out around the same time.
I was playing the Resistance 3 beta and thinking player motion feels like CoD (a good thing) but a new set of weapons and upgrades - I'll get this instead.
BF3 is a purchase whether opting for CoD3 or R3 so I'll have plenty to enjoy.

The only thing that could get me thinking about buying MW3 is a really good price and although each year there&#...

I find it hard to be happy with 12-15 maps and a few very expensive map packs when it wasn't that long ago when you could be playing fps games with around 10,000+ maps (UT, Quake, Doom, RTCW etc etc etc) - and they were bigger with more complex routes.

Killing dead Nazi zombiies and Nazi created super soldiers sounds Sci- fi to me :)

Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, Tribe all out rank his top 15 but for me Unreal Tournament '99 is No.1

And there'll be plenty of DLC as they're stripping it out of the game as we speak!

5263d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

Yup, play games WITHOUT the TV having to upsample would be a big IQ improvement.
And while they're adding the processing power and ram for that why not throw in some decent levels of anti-aliasing!

NATIVE and JAGGILESS!!!

Well if the beta is anything to go by then 16 players is about right for those tiny maps.
I would have thought it wiser to just offer differing game modes to accommodate differing player count.

Agreed ram has been a very limiting factor on PS3/360 but the biggest advance has been in the use of shaders.
These memory efficient routines have taken rather low texture detail images and added lots of quite fantastic effects.
