While the Wii U may not be considered new hardware tech it is innovative in it's approach much like the Wii was.
I bet most would like to play their PS3 & 360 games in both desktop and mobile modes without having to pay for an additional portable console and pay yet again for the dedicated games.
Both the PS3 and 360 were old tech the day of launch when compared to the PC but for the price they represented great value and for most the lower quality has still been good enough not to be a big issue.
Each year devs find subtle ways to squeeze just a little bit more with clever routines - a good example for 2011 is Dirt 3. The draw distance for both consoles has seen a real jump and finally looks something close to a PC driving game (bar the immediate IQ loss of having t...
Top of any list should be Codemasters Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
It was hyped as the next Wolfenstein fps but ended up demonstrating just how bad it's possible to make an fps game.
After this other bad fps games could be considered "OK" lol
Could add Unreal Tournament 2k3 to the list as it was bad enough that Epic pulled it and offered owners a very cheap UT2K4 upgrade.
As it's just a limited free only with subscription deal I'd guess it will be offered in other regions at different times.
Personally I think the best offer is the new game Under Siege with a nice "plus" discount.
Duals of the Planeswalkers seems to be a real budget version ( no big animated battle scenes etc) of The Eye of Judgement
PS3 version is excellent - another jump in quality from Dirt 2 / F1
We should also ban the Underground trains that pass through the station as they too are a reminder of the bombing :)
As I see it this is the start of Activisions controversial marketing strategy that they perform prior to each release. It's much cheaper than paying for advertising and it keeps the title name in the headlines, online media and forums.
This will follow with the Superstores having lots of stock at the initial release and it selling on consol...
Exactly! For me I already own the free titles I wanted to start with and am not bothered about owning the rest as they simply don't interest me but I will be buying Under Siege and I've just received Dirt 3
I find the article flawed as it uses games as it's reference rather than using the graphics hardware followed by the effect on games.
For instance the big graphics switch for PC's came from a 3DFX card and as the graphics card advanced so often did the "same" game ie.

1991 seems an odd starting point too as there was some fantastic g...
A great option which I'd love to see that on the PS3 too...
was 6 hrs for standby?? what planet are some of these ppl from!!
I too went with Plus due to Cloud storage but without Plus I have to wonder if Sony would have given it out for free as a final solution with regards warranty replacements rather than repairs.
I've had 2 PS3's have a blue-ray failure and both had protected data which I had too loose with the result it ruined the games I was playing as I had no interest to replay them from the beginning again.
Quagmire, get some humour pills :)
With the PS3 down I've gone back to playing a few PC games and while BC2 was ok playing BF2 has been fantastic. The combination of more flag points, more vehicles and open map style makes for such entertaining maps.
Loved playing the original, was one of my 1st 3d graphics games using a 3dfx card.
Surprised they're not promoting a couple of map packs that you can pre order now. Just pick the maps you fancy and they'll strip the content from the game for you!!!
All fps games are rip off's of Capture the Flag on Atari 800
All rts games are a rip off of Cytron Masters- for Apple/Atari 8bits
The list just keeps going. Today's games are just evolutions of previous generations generally, (but certainly not always), taking the best features and adding something slightly different.
When the 1st thing that's required to watch it on the TV is upsampling the image I'd say it's time for an upgrade.
I wonder what their life expectancy would be if their photos were published on the net. Would be quite scary to know you couldn't even go down to the local store for fear of being totally ripped to shreds.
I'm impressed they put together the identity insurance package, must have taken some putting together in such a short space of time and likely not cheap!

I wasn't suggesting BF3 won't sell well or even better than CoD OPS rather EA had a pre-order sale a few weeks back which would have helped a lot.
BC2 was one of the few titles I purchased for both PC & PS3 (strange movement on PS3) and will likely do the same for BC3 unless it turns out to be all media hype and no BF gameplay :)
Ahh I hadn't appreciated you needed to have a console with the U pads as well... back to plan B :)
