So long as they don't make it casual ONE IOTA, and either keep consistent or up the difficulty level, then 360 or not, this is a day one purchase for me.
XBOX'ers, you guys are in for a real treat if its as good as Demon's Souls is. Be glad there isin't cross-platform for this.
I like Dark Souls.
But I wonder why they had "Dark Ring" makes you wonder.
I haven't bought a FPS in my 20+ years of gaming. Im likely buying this.
Yeah, Im replaying demon's souls instead of buying this.
Didn't the guy who wrote the Dark Brotherhood quests is in charge of the whole quest line now?
Ugh, that means they want to make it more accessible.
My only shining beacon of hope is in FromSoftware.
If you can't wait and you see this in the bargin bin...pick it up.
Its a good game if you are looking for some wRPG goodness and have some cash to burn before Dragon Age.
In a bargin bin, pick it up...Full retail...try and hold out for Dragon Age 2.
Didn't watch it,
But did play it, and paused it to check out the new graphics....No voices...or moving pictures.
It satisfied my curiousity.
This seems consistent with how they developed Demon's Souls.
In Demon's Souls, there was an interview given that said they played around with the idea that if you died, it would corrupt the save...(Now that is insane)
They are saying all the right things so far. They acknowledge there is a small yet dedicated legion of fans of Demon's Souls who crave the difficulty level. They "said" they want to meet those expectations.
...
This really is a great year for gaming...The generation is starting to mature and also develop more than FPS.
My list
Already:
LBP2
Me2
Two Worlds 2
DA:2
L.A. Noire
Skrim
DARK SOULS (for the love...please come out this year...they said fall...please be fall)
Me3
ICO HD
The Last Guardian
Possibles:
The Cursed Crusade
Deus Ex: Human Evo...
Its good, and I enjoyed playing it. (beat it last night)
There is some brilliant stuff in there, but by the end, I was eager to put it down.
I then fired up Demon's Souls for my 3rd playthrough in honor of the Dark Souls annoucnement.
Ice days...had alot of time on my hands...Took me about 20 hours...some side quests (the ones I could tell that were good...IE Last Crusade)
Im sure this game will be great.
But of course Red Dead Redemption was done by Rockstar San Diego (not Rockstar that does Grand Theft Auto. Rock star San Diego was another developer entirely who developed Read Dead Revolver for the ps2), and this is done by Team Bondi and it shows lots of promise.
If anything, this shows that Rockstar that does GTA is an excellent excellent producer.
This game is a good if you are waiting for Dragon Age 2, but if you are counting pennies, this is not worth 60 bucks.
30 sure...pick it up for that.
Some of the side quests are actually pretty good, but some are really really bad. Just basic fetch quests. There are A TON of movie references.
After awhile, I got tired of the fetch quests and finished up the single player.
You raise a solid point and in a way I agree, but I think its difficult to craft a tight narrative when you have this senarion:
1) Starts epic sense of urgency...world is in trouble
2) Tutorial
3) Finally get outside
4) "Hey, though there is impending doom..take your time getting a bottle of wine for this NPC that will give you a penance for your wasted time.
5) Rinse and repeat till as long as you can stand it.
6) Beat the...
I'd agree with that.
Also the pacing was way off.
SquareEnix doesn't have the "soul" that Squaresoft did.
Just play back though FFVI, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana...geesh they were on fire for awhile.
As for everyone "slamming" FFXIII, it is more similar to FFX then people give it credit for. FFX was very linear it just allowed for more than corridors.
You know what you like...that's good...but to say there is no place for games like Fallout 3 is little much. I thought Fallout was a much tighter experience than the meandering Oblivion.
I'm with you on Demon's Sous though...there hasn't been a game this generation that has captured that experience.
Dark Souls.....then everything else. (and there is alot of everything else this year...very good year for some variety in games.
