Games in the era did something more akin to books than todays games that are more akin to movies.

Let me explain, in older era games much of the experience was drawn by the player himself. (or herself) Voices, and experiences were drawn by the player because of the lack of incredible graphics and voice work. The games required you to use your imagination. It was like reading a book...and the book is always better.

Todays games are more like movies. ...

I may be picking this up considering it comes with an enhanced version of the first game.

I'll need to see some reviews, but with a slow summer...it may be a good time filler.

Wish it would come out on ps3 so we can all see for ourselves.

Do you honestly think that you can set these things up ANYWHERE (like right outside a boss fight)?

My guess, the "check-points" will be as difficult to use as any other feature in the game.

It will be glorious...GLORIOUS!

Im with you on your 3 games. Will be an epic fall.

From what I have seen, it takes the great gameplay of Demon's Souls (and the entire idea behind it) and fleshes it out better in more fully realized world.

Open World exploration, still the same risk/reward difficulty curve, same great tension it creates, slicker interface, better graphics, same if not better art style, and of course whatever multiplayer enhancements they are cooking up (and they have said they have a bunch up their sleves but don't want to ruin th...

Well, the point of the groaning is to make you care more about what happens to Laura. Feel like you screwed up when you guide her off a cliff or crunched by a rock.

Dark Souls continues to be shafted by these types of articles.

Perhaps that is a good thing. So long as it gets solid success to warrant another one and the developers make good but not Call of Duty money, then perhaps the developers will continue to make games in the same style and not be tempted with HUGE BUCKS that more casual games can demand.

LA Noire is a prime example of the issues plaguing games that are trying to break through traditional story telling mechanics. In other words, games trying to tell stories in a traditional manner are running into the issue of marrying compelling gameplay with the story.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game for the most part, but the game did drag on a little bit at times. (And this is not due to the lack of explosions or anything like that)

Ther...

At the price right now, it is worth picking up and giving it a go.

Everyone else is right about this game though. Its not "hard" in a cheap sense. It is a game that requires you to think about each and every encounter like it will end you (and it probably can).

Go slow, think about the enviroment and attack patterns and you will progress through the game...that simple.

That you have probably heard, but here is my specific ...

Game looks fantastic no doubt.

But for the 1st poster who claimed "nothing can stop Skyrim," let me remind you of Gamespot's game of the year over a strong year in gaming that included Uncharted 2...Demon's Souls.

Dark Souls will be a different experience than Skyrim, but it may be the most intense, immersive, and rewarding game on the market this year (and lets be honest...if its like Demon's Souls...)of the decade.

I remember a time when if you saw "SquareSoft" on a box, you know the game would ooze quality, style, and was worth picking up...even if they were un-godly expensive at the time. (I paid 75 bucks for Chrono Trigger in the 90's...that's a lot of money for a 7th grader).

These times are not long LONG gone with developers pushing past Square in terms of game design and immersive experiences.

In other words, I really don't care about an...

I was thinking the same thing, but once Dark Souls hits it wont leave my Ps3 until Skyrim (well, maybe for one week to beat Uncharted 3...)

Rage will have to wait most likely.

They pushed this game back into fall as opposed to summer...Unfortunately, this may kill its chances being that so many great games are coming out in the fall.

Im interested though...have since I saw the first trailer.

Not good. They really should have hit the September time frame. ALOT less competition...and heck, I was going to pick it up in sept..but oct? No.

October starts a mad onslaught of truely excellent games.

For me, Im picking up Dark Souls on the 4th...not alot of time for other games.

Looks like I will pick up rage out of the bargain bin.
