Shame they over estimated how much a brand new IP would sell.
They needed over 3 million or so to break even...I mean...come on...really?!
Im sorry, but the fact that this list does not contain Neir renders the entire thing invalid.
Say what you want about Neir as a game, but "dat soundtrack" is the most innovative and daring I have ever heard in a video game.
Editor to newsroom at WSJ: "Hey, anyone of you ever heard of videogames?"
The one dudebro says.."Yeah, me and my bros would play Call of"
Editor: "Write up on this game" Flips it to Dudebro WSJ.
And thats how it happened.
Stick with it!!! You will be glad you did.
(Instead, of dropping a difficulty level to easy merely to progress). :)
For most games...Nothing.
But when a game is specifically designed around the difficulty level (ie. the Souls Series), then yes, it is a bit of an issue.
Further, (and lets call a spade a spade here), the Souls games harken back to an era when some gamers couldn't beat certain games. It is a badge of honor to be able to complete the game. To have an "easy" mode, is to take away this feeling for many Souls players.
There ...
That is probably the right pick.
My favorite is VI.
I really liked XII
Hated X.
Tolerated but ultimately wasn't a huge fan of XIII
FFVIII kinda weird
Came here to post Neir. That is one incredible soundtrack.
All depends on how it is written.
Some villians you sympathize with.
Some villians you hate.
Some have all the motive in the world
Others dont have any.
But so long as they are DEVELOPED and not given the "big bad ass motif" and "I want to destroy the world" then they can be good.
Probably because in the beginning there is a decent learning curve there and gamers were quitting.
Anyway, I love the game.
Yeah, writing.
Two ways to make a good villain.
One...make him the bane of your existence. Make you want to take him out no matter what the cost. (Think Kefka, FFVI)
But what makes a good villian in any medium is a villian that in some way you can connect with...not completely, but in some way.
Think Heath Ledgers JOKER...
Until game developers start creating games dealing with Mature THEMES (and not gore...or whatever mindless crap thats out there), then we have mature gaming.
Don't get me wrong, some games have already done this.
Journey
Shadow of the Collesus
Ico
Hell, you can say
FFVI
Final Fantasy Tactics
Valkeria Chronicles
deal with Mature themes.
I ...I...I just dont care anymore.
Im cautiously optimistic...
Oh, Im not worried.
The DLC will come to consoles eventually.
Better yet...forget the DLC and make a new "Souls" game.
Bioware, IMO, is getting more heat than it deserves.
Dragon Age Origins was a solid game.
All 3 Mass Effects were good. (horrible ending on 3, but overall solid).
Dragon Age 2 was mediocre.
Game developers make bad games all the time, yet where is the hate for them?
I think it is just that Bioware does such a good job in some aspects of the game, when they falter just a bit, everyone comes apart. ...
Like the book and show.
I mean, other than the fact that article has typos....
IMO, it is a shame that Bioware did indeed screw up the ending. Not because it didn't end the way I wanted it to, but because it made little sense in context of the rest of the game (and employed poor litrary tools to do so).
There are indeed plot holes left by all endings...Don't argue that there aren't. There are.
What should be celebrated is Bioware's accompli...
Thats a bit low of a score.
Not saying it needs to be a 10 or anything, but its not a "C" game.
To me it is a 9. Im having fun playing. Im invested in the characters, but Im very wary of the ending (haven't seen it yet, but goodness...it really must be terrible).
The dude is right if he is referring to traditional story telling.
Skyrim is a game about the journey...hence why the first 20 hours of you wandering around out there is easily the best part of the game...when you finally are able to fast travel everywhere and start doing alot of the "quests" and main story line, you realize that "choice" is an illusion.
I love Skyrim, but it is really just a great hiking simulator.
Look,
The Souls games were my two favorite games of the last decade.
Any change the formula has me concerned. That simple.
The complexity, subtlty (sp), the frustration, obtuse story elements, all came together in an absolutely spell binding way. A game, perfectly balance.
Now that balance is up in the air.
