No, we all lose.

The core, the crux, of the game depends on the unwavering difficulty as "accomplishment" and "focus" are the pillars of the game.

So far Miyazaki and FromSoftware have been champions in holding to their vision for games.

I hope that continues. Miyazaki has now caught lightening in a bottle 3 times with 3 different IPs.

Man is visionary.

Don't get me wrong, I love FromSoftware and everything they have ever done since the ps1 days, but going back to some of the ps1 stuff may be just too jarring. Almost all ps1 games have aged really poorly.

Kings Field IV Ancient City would be a better choice really.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Most of the "Souls" community and now Bloodborne readily admit that the games are not for everyone. It is obviously not meant for the author of this article.

Where I take issue is when he says "bad game design." The over and over stuff. He claims this is bad game design. I say it is absolutely brilliant in what it wants to achive in the player.

It wants you to learn. It also wants you pissed off...

Make the DLC story driven and not mindless side quests would probably do it.

Come one come all to FromSoftware's amazingness!

(Just know that DS2 is a lot more complicated in terms of stats and different play styles...armor. equip burden...alot more to manage.)

Its also ALOT slower paced.

For sure.

Im just saying that really much chance to broaden the base will be swallowed up by Bloodborne. I think that some of those who play Bloodborne may be the type of gamer to give Toukiden a shot given the right circumstances.

Because of Bloodborne, that opportunity is a little lost at the moment.

Monster Hunter 4 having just come out on the 3ds doesn't help much either.

Simply stated, its none of those things.

Competitive gaming? Not really, though there is some pvp that not everyone has really gotten into yet.

Over the top hack and slash? Not really, the combat, while fast, is very deliberate and thoughtful. If you run in hacking you will die. Fast.

Character Driven games? Not in this style. Though the lore in the games are exceedingly rich. Lets put it this way, though the characters can be awesome,...

Hard to know if it will click with you before trying it.

IMO, its worth the 60 bucks just to see if the game is for you. Because if it is...it will be one of the best gaming experiences ever.

I'd gladly pay 200 bucks for stuff like this.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when the release date was announced.

I would think that some of the player base would probably overlap here, but with Bloodborne being the beast that it is, will essentially kill any hope of this gaming gaining any momentum outside of an established player base.

Shame because the game isnt bad at all.

"At the same time this made combat my least favourite part of the game, because I loved the tacitcal dance that was a Souls battle, and I found that Bloodborne's combat was limited and scrappy by comparison. I'm certain other people will appreciate Bloodborne for that reason, but I wouldn't be doing my job as a critic if I didn't highlight a potentially problematic area for some."

This right here is the difference between Bloodborne and the Souls gam...

Don't give up!

Im assuming you are at boss that does not have multiple forms. (don't want to spoil anything for others). If you are and fighting in a graveyard, don't fight him first. There is another boss.

Take stock of your weapons. Are you understanding the moveset? Are you leveling up the corrct stat for that weapon? (If its a strength weapon, are you leveling strenght....and vitality of course)

If you need some XP. The...

It really isn't though.

The grind is less about stats and more about you learning what is happening.

Im curious to hear some opinions of those who hated the Souls games but love Bloodborne.

Don't get me wrong, the more the merrier! Glad FromSoftware is getting the attention they righfully deserve.

Essentially, the Souls games and now Bloodborne are the old Castlevanias!

Souls games are a glimpse into an alternate future if 8bit Nes games continued their difficulty curve into the 3d space.

Miyazaki is a true gem to the industry. His name deserves to be mentioned along side Sakaguchi, Miyamoto, Kojima, and others. He is a legend.

As long as this man is making games, I will buy whatever he makes day one.

Resonace of Fate was a strange RPG, but once you got the hang of it, there was alot to like. It ran into trouble releasing within a week of FFXIII so it was overshadowed very quickly. (Love or hate FFXIII lots of people buy it).

To this day, it is the only console game I have purchased on the ps3 that I have not completed.

The game really is outstanding in every way.

Far be in from me to recommend buying a console for just one game, but I tell you.

If you ae thinking about upgrading, getting the ps4 to play Bloodborne will not be a bad decision!

Effing love it.

He has admitted through Dark Souls development that he is not the best at his own games.

That man is without a doubt a legend in the industry at this point.

A name that should be mentioned along side Kojima, Miyamoto, Sakaguchi, and other amazing developers and directors.

As long as this man is involved in directing games, I will buy whatever he makes.

Indeed, a great review.

I hope that all of this positive feedback will encourage some other players who are not well aquainted with the Souls games and/or challenging games to give this a go.

4006d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Umm, what?

The games aren't even in the same stratosphere as comparable.
