Nintendo never said "on par", the press asked if they believed they had reached the same level as current gen consoles this time, and they said "we believe so yes", does this mean it isn't any more powerful? No, not at all.
I wish people would stop all this 720 and PS4 talk too, those guys haven't announced anything beyond working on things, which in the console industry everyone does almost as soon as the current console releases. They don't ...
Both Nintendo and the dev's said all footage at this point is prototype and that the machine is still in development, hence no specs and the cageyness when people ask about it. They have been told not to say anything.
If the specs were worse they would gain nothing by hiding it, they will have to showcase the machine before launch and everyone would find out eventually. Its been 6 years since the others launched, if it isn't better graphically then there is something terribly...
Both Sony and Microsoft said they are going to wait a couple more years before they head into next-gen.
Even if the Wii U turns out to be a small jump rather than a leap up, i would rather be playing a new innovative console that is a jump up from the rest for a few years while i wait for whatever else is next, as well as pick up the PS3 and 360 exclusives than sit around with my current home consoles waiting for the other two companies to finally decide to move up after their sales d...
Name one previous Nintendo home console, apart from the Wii that has been graphically underpowered compared to its competitors spec wise. I think you will find your "most previous" comment to be quite wrong.
Where do you come by your secret information my good sir? No one knows the cost of a Wii U yet, and they said in the press conference that it will be competitive to the current gen consoles. I would like to see where you got this info that the Vita will cost less than a Wii U!
Nintendo's Wii U which has announced no specs is 6 years newer than PS3 and 360, and yet everyone assumes its the same power or some people assume its even less powerful. And yet "if" Microsoft and Sony announce a new console anytime soon which they both have said numerous times they wont for at least a couple more years, that it automatically has to be more powerful than anything out so far? Nintendo gets automatically doubted because of one system that has been under-powered c...
I don't remember Sony's 3D being "shot-down", and i would say the reason Nintendo's 3D was praised was because you didn't have to wear stupid glasses which is what people have been asking for since 3D became popular again. And the whole "bad for your eyes" thing is and was just a typical press hype up. Certain people may be more sensitive to effects such as that than others, does not mean that it is bad for everyone and anyone who uses the system.
...
I have not been following the Vita that much, but according to a lot of articles i have seen popping up as of late, the handheld has only just had its specs "confirmed" at E3. Why did we not see hundreds of "NGP isnt revealing specs it must suck" threads, and "i don't believe those Uncharted NGP videos and pics are real until i see specs" comments.
Just wondering why Sony gets auto-awesomed and Nintendo always gets so heavily scrutinized >.<
When you think about it, when it comes to the way Nintendo is driving on innovation through the way we play games, through the controller. The console is "just a box", sure whats inside is important as it runs the whole thing, but all the innovative stuff is in the controller yea? Just shows people are far to pre-occupied on the whole "who has the best graphics" rubbish instead of thinking about the possiblities of new ways of controlling or immersing ourselves in gameplay...
AHA! So you did buy a Wii lol, everyone knows drunk Wii Sports is awesome :P
No a spec/graphics whores were the people that flamed the footage of 3rd party games as looking "weak" and "pathetic" and "less than current gen" then getting majorly burned when they said actually that was your precious current gen systems running the game, was so brilliant and ironic.
It's funny huh, you say games are about fun not graphics and you get voted down. You say wait for specs and facts before you make judgement, you get voted down. You say a true gamer should be able to accept there are good games on each companies console, no matter how loyal you are to a company or a specific box (boy does that sound silly). It makes me wonder what has happened to gaming and it's followers if all that matters is graphics, rumor and hatred rather than rivalry. It's ...
That's the problem isn't it. People jumping to their own conclusions. They stay quiet about the stats so it's automatically bad. They get asked if it can compare to the current consoles and they simply say yes, do automatically it's only on par with the others. The Vita can link with PS3 so it's not innovative even tho people at E3 saw cross platform interaction with games like that "ninja star" demonstration with Vita doesn't look like it has been made to do...
I would wager that is why too, or at least till they are closer to launch. Gather up the nay sayers and blow them away haha. I mean keeping quiet if it was worse stats wise won't help them at all, it will have to be shown before launch and people will find out eventually and if it wasn't great they won't get as much sales reguardless of when they show it if that was the case. It's more likely it's better than people are thinking, 3rd parties and even Nintendo 1st party dev...
Thumbs up for you my good sir. Excellent point!
Couldn't agree more! I may be overly nostalgic, but the early console wars were far more gratifying. They just don't make them like they used to, guess that's why all the collection sets of old games sell so well. Funny how people winge about graphics and games being too much like their previous entrys in the series and then drool over hd versions of old games that don't take full advantage of their systems precious graphics and are the same game they played a few years back. ...
I miss the good old days, when it was more about the games. Sure they peddled the graphics even back then, but it was each systems unique games that drew each new fan in. If you enjoy Halo and Gears sure you can preach Xbox, if you enjoy Uncharted and Resistance go ahead and stick up for Sony, if you love Mario and Zelda then you will no doubt love Nintendos new console. If your a true gamer and in it for the games you should have no problem seeing the positives in each console, and possibly ...
Hell if it's a Dreamcast 2 in disguise sign me up!! The Dreamcast had some of the best and innovative games during its brief lifespan. If Nintendo Wii U has Shenmue 3 and Skies of Arcadia 2 just to name two games I'd love to see get sequels i would be over the moon lol
Really? Is this the same Sony that went to Nintendo when they wanted to try break into the console game market? The same Sony that has used and continues to use Nintendo's innovations in all it's consoles? A new console generation that just adds better graphics and less jaggies and has the same generic games just looking better doesn't interest me in the slightest, give me innovation and something new, experimental and fun over horsepower any day. If I wanted pure graphical grunt ...
Yea, that generally holds true except for really early on when the SNES stood out, tho the Mega Drive/Genesis did give it a run for it's money. And tech wise I'm pretty sure it's been said a few times by dev's that the Dreamcast actually had better tech than the PS2 but it was hard to develop for and their 3rd party support fell off the radar because of it. So weaker winning stands true for that gen too.
