If you want to play your game on your friends console... you will be able to open your user account on any console with cloud systems.
There is NOTHING wrong with online passes. You buy the game legally new... you get everything. Buy is used or pirate it... you pay. Simple really.

And the 15 to 17% increase in digital sales post psn down? Are they kidding, this has nothing to do with the welcome back offering, and everything to due with psn users having a backlog of dlc they wanted during the downtime, but could not get.

my issue here is not with old games having servers shut down... but with games like Madden 10. Hardly old, and support is being dropped. Meanwhile, they keep pumping out new versions every year for us to buy at 60$ a pop.

That being said, if you are careful, you can get deals on Live yearly memberships... I paid 60$ this year... plus got a free game out of it.
Lower initial price points are ok... But humans are cheap. Sell it for 30 at the start and the same people will wait till it is 15
I think that is very logical.
RUF is recognized as a distinct manufacturer. But like others, I think of them as a heavily tuned Porsche.
Like the author, I was very much concerned that the inclusion of RUF hinted the loss of Porsche. Ruf is great (Think Yellowbird and RGT8), but it is Porsche Motorsport that would be the greatest loss in my mind. No GT3-RSR, no spider, no 962C.

A small portion of people are highly sensitive. I have thicker skin myself, but I can respect people like the dad in the story who are overly-sensitive due to unique personal situations.
However, I think the real issue here is the media. They are always looking for the next hot controversial topic. Controversy and bad news sells... so it gets reported. We think it must be bad because the media reports it, and takes it out of context.
On that note, games...
