Poor guy. He could have spent the Christmas holidays playing Dirt Rally, Project Cars, Asseto Corsa or iRacing, which it sounds like he'd absolutely love. Instead he and his family ended up with nothing all because you just can't bring yourself to discuss other options in a positive light. Shame on you!

3.6Ghz is stock speed on these processors. The stock speed on the CPUs you listed is 2.7Ghz and 2.2Ghz respectively. Even the i7-5820k you mentioned in your comment above is 3.6Ghz stock, and that's 6 cores (it is a great CPU though, I have one under water myself).

Ryzen is a desktop class 8 core processor. Personally I highly doubt it will match the i7-6900 in much besides a few carefully selected benchmarks, but if you want to draw conclusions based purely on cores an...

You keep using the word "Cloud", but you are costing as if it is a completely rigid solution. Realistically their costs will be far more impacted by concurrent player numbers, not total users or diversity of games available.

You could at least have the courtesy to point your cousin in the right direction and suggest he spends his wealth on a PC setup if he wants to play racing games in VR. What was he gonna play with all that gear, Drive Club? :-/

Low compared to what? It is an 8 core CPU.

It could supplement a VR solution nicely, but it isn't adequate as a primary tracking solution. Too much latency, too many oclusion issues.

If they could incorporate some of the tech into an inside-out tracking solution that could have potential.

I don't think he was slating Diablo so much as pointing out that those 2 aren't clones as the article claims.

Path of Exile, Van Helsing trilogy, and Victor Vran are all obvious choices instead.

I don't want to be given "a reason to buy Xbox again" if that reason is exclusivity on certain games. I'd rather keep that money in my pocket and still be able to play the games, thanks very much.

If they can pack in some features or hardware that enables the Xbox to do things my current stuff simply isn't capable of then that would be a different story.

You'll be waiting forever. VR is stereoscopic and high frame rate, there will always be some overhead to achieve it.

Unless you are hoping that devs stop trying to maximise the potential of the consoles when using traditional screens in order to keep the visuals on a par with the more taxing VR versions?

Sounds like he's just talking about minor refinements, not changes to the functionality. A PSVR Slim, but without the slimming down (because it still needs to fit a human head).

Wait if cables are likely to bother you, otherwise get in there.

Just don't forget to pick up the correct scented candles to enhance the experience.

Well MS have said it is ~6Tflops, and small Vega is purportedly 12.5 TFlops.

Scorpio uses an APU, and 6TFlops a beast as APUs go. I just didn't want to imply that Scopio was getting the full fat high end Vega.

3356d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

It's definitely a Vega slide. The "New horizon" tagline was all over the Vega and Zen presentation decks. Certainly not conclusive, but it would make sense for the console to feature some iteration of tech that will be current when it launches (albeit a low tier of said tech)

That's because you said it last year.

Of course there is a reason to buy the console hardware. A great many people lack a PC capable of matching the hardware, much less have such a PC plugged into their TV. The Xbox consoles represent a relatively cheap and uncomplicated way to access Windows gaming. It will remain relevant for about as long as consoles remain relevant.

I actually have 2 gaming PCs and I won't need to buy a Scorpio thanks to the way Microsoft are handling their exclusives now, but I'd b...

"IF you have a capable PC". He doesn't say that applies to you, or any majority of people.

3357d ago 8 agree0 disagreeView comment

You haven't really made any point though. Nobody thinks the majority of PCs are high-end "super rigs". Most PCs don't even have discrete graphics cards, let alone the top performing cards. No conjecture necessary, there are plenty of numbers from AMD, nVidia, and Intel to confirm that. Quoting statistics to disprove an argument that nobody is making (and then repeating yourself in a second article) is asking for backlash.

Imagine RookieMonster going into a...

"You guys say" is a convenient way to defeat arguments that nobody is making.

Myth? Much as it pains you, some people have very good PCs. You haven't said anything that refutes or challenges that at all.

You sure did talk about this yesterday. Its cool though, everybody loves listening to a broken record so you just carry on repeating yourself.
