This is coming from the same PlayStation that has the $70 remakes, nearly 2 year old console getting a price increase, that won't let you use old controllers on new games even though they perfectly work, that takes income from publishers that gets generated on rival platforms?
Ok.
Flynn: Son of Crimson has been a very enjoyable game. I'm nearing the end after playing off and on for a week - definitely enough time for someone to beat it before it's off.
Level design and combat are great, and I love the music and art style, even if overall game design is a bit tropey (enemy variety = different color sprites, battle encounters feel like they're there to be there, the "Scourge" levels with the floating hammer chasing you are super c...
Mine came in that crappy envelope. The top of the box is slightly crinkled, but the bottom is all uneven with some glue gunk that melted onto the package. There was also a cut in the envelope.
Still better than when Best Buy sent me a Death Stranding Limited Editiok with the steelcase bent at 45 degrees... But yeah, the box itself and the sleeve envelope packaging, it's like marketing really went all out to call us suckers at spending $100 on this.
I remember you!
A week ago you defended $70 games. I replied to that comment. Here's what you said then:
"I don't think it's unnecessary. I'm in the camp that people should actually be paid for their work. I remember paying 70 for a game in the early 90s and they're still 70 when they cost 100x to make what they did then. You go cinema and spend 20 for 2 hours but people whine about getting a 50 hour game that you can sell afterwa...
It really hurts the value proposition of Game Pass - $120 of perceived value in Starfield and Redfall both removed from the year, and it's not like there are many third-party replacements MS can try to buy into the service.
I could most realistically see Gotham Knights, but don't think that's got a high chance.
Why the angst?
It's an indie title, and came out on PC the same day as the PS versions. Sony didn't publish Kena. It's very likely to get an Xbox version.
The Scorn devs should also target PS5 once they're out of any exclusivity window... Like The Medium, Tunic, The Ascent, etc.
Sooo, kinda what Microsoft is doing with Activision then, buying the teams and IP that are undervalued and mistreated due to how COD engulfs all of their non-Blizzard teams (and Activision's mistreatment of their own employees). Microsoft is actually protecting those teams and franchises.
I certainly don't agree with any belief that either are creating a monopoly, but Embracer is on a consolidation spree that dwarfs even what MS is doing. The only thing they're ...
The Red Hood high-level gameplay yesterday was trying to nice-wash him. Kinda like "Yeah he's angrier but he's agreed to not kill because reasons". It's a game feeling more and more made-by-committee as opposed to having any strong push at being a true standout, or even really respecting the source material. Court of Owls is secondary to "branching skill trees", character behavior is secondary to "look at his glowy non-lethal bullets".
That's a bit earlier than I would've thought for a game still 2 months away. IGN's coverage looks better to me than the demo video we got a few months back, but I'm still hesitant about it. Gotham with no Batman, built for co-op, and marketing's lack of focus on the story so far is a hard sell.
Also, detail the performance modes. 30fps on a current-gen exclusive that spent the majority of its development targeting last-gen makes that an even harder sell....
Games cost $70+ back in the day because of manufacturing costs, especially cartridge. It was what it was, and the lack of price consistency sucked. The N64 also had very low sales relative to the PS1 and its sales were less than the SNES. People spoke with their wallets.
Cinema is a different beast. $20 for 2 hours, tell me the kind of seats you're sitting in or what your major city is, and the proportion of Disney films compared to other studios - mine is $14 a ticket ...
Guarantee that Aquaman, Black Adam, and Shazam will all come for their movies. I like the idea of this game, still haven't played it though.
What's the general take from some here?
Agreed - I see people saying this is expensive but I don't see any of those same people sharing an example of a cheaper 4K 144hz HDR monitor.
Comparing this to a TV too... Just ridiculous.
For myself, it's gonna be another two years before I upgrade my PC to something that would actually go north of 4K60, and maybe by then Sony will address the complaints in their first generation (USB-B, lol)

Microsoft has been as clear about COD remaining available on Playstation as Bungie's been about Destiny on Xbox.
Nintendo is able to more-than thrive without any COD support.
Sony can worry all they legally want to but that doesn't make this merger less valid. Maybe Sony shouldn't have abandoned the first-person genre...
So continuing to go out of your way to express discontent at them adding what you want them to add is helping the situation in what way?
Acknowledgment of the content not being there at launch is fair but barking it out every dang chance you get, you're turning yourself into a troll.
@ ede "The switch was old and dated hardware when it released"
Compared to what competing product?
"especially compared to home consoles"
Ohhh so against products it didn't compete with. That's our standard. Xbox 360 gets a pass for going 8 years with 512MB of RAM, but Switch was ancient, deprecated tech since Day 0.
You (and others in here) act completely oblivious to the Xbox 360 going 8 full years before its successor, and the PS3 a full 7...
Scorn getting mocked for being 6-8 hours has nothing to do with it actually being 6-8 hours, or even anything to do with the game itself; we both know why.
Regardless, I do agree - shorter games like... Call of the Sea, Stray, The Medium, Titanfall 2, Untitled Goose Game, My Friend Pedro, so on and so forth... these were all enjoyable to me because they're able to feel so focused on the core experience they want to provide. I'm excited to try out As Dusk Falls and W...
Oh my, people spend over $100 on a gaming controller and choose *not* to use the paddles?
I'm shocked. They're the best thing ever to me. Even the two rear buttons on the 8BitDo Pro 2.
