How can you spell Crytek wrong? Its really not that hard.
An equally valid title would be "Medal of Honor: Warfighter Bares Shocking Resemblance to Call of Duty"
These kick starter funded games are both good and bad ideas. Sure, its allows games that would otherwise be too risky for publishers to ever make to happen, but it also allows the developer to get away with a shoddy game as their expenses are already covered, in other words they have no liability to make a great game.
Not gonna stop anyone from doing it though, and I admit that if anyone started a campaign to make a new Monster Truck Madness I would blindly support it in the ...
It seems that whenever there is an imbalance in something, when that imbalance gets addressed it always goes too far and becomes another imbalance just the other way.
For example, if you look at women's rights and feminism a lot of really good work has and is being done to fix cultural unfairness towards women. But its now gotten to the point of if a male staff member asks a female member of staff on a date that is classed as unwanted sexual advances and by extension sexu...
Youre wrong. If you trade in a game that you bought for $60 and get $30 back for it, the retailer will then sell it for $55 to someone else. This means that you have to put in $30 extra to buy a new game for $60, which you could then trade in for $30 and so on.
So for every 3 games you buy, $180, you only spend $60 of new money, so you're pretty happy. What this means if you couldn't trade in games you would only buy them 1/3 as often as you would if you traded them a...
The difference between new and used games is usually like $5, as if that is going to be enough of a difference to make anyone stop buying games altogether. They may buy slightly less games, but that would still be more new games than none. Trust me, if you think about it even for just a moment you will realise that this would benefit publishers and destroy game retailers who rely on used game sales.
As the guy above me says, this is software, the rules are different. You don't get to trade in any other form of software except for physical game discs, so its not like game publishers are evil in this case or doing anything abnormal. In any case, the future will remove the ability to trade in games by itself. In 10 years you simply wont be able to buy a physical copy of a game, you will either download it or stream it from a cloud based system.
You realise this is one guy at Crytek, and not even one of the top guys. All he's saying is that from a business standpoint it would be good for them, what is wrong with that?
A more efficient CE2? So maybe something like CE3 then?
What did you just say?
How so? Their strategy might be to make games specifically for Wii U rather than modify their bread and butter games for the platform.
I hate how this guy always makes out like he alone makes all the games he's involved in. Stop being so self centered you twat Molyneux, and give your team members some credit for once.
Well here's the deal,
********Epic Spoilers*********
He's actually dead.
Oh and also the suit would convert it into energy if he wasn't. If you read Crysis Legion, it explains that Prophet at some point recharged his suit batteries by breaking down human bodies, it would just do the same thing to his 'poop'.
That simply isn't true, my PC from 2006 was a mid range one at the time could Max out the first engine (Far Cry + Graphics mods). My mid spec PC from last year can Max out Crysis 2 + graphics mods. Oh and by the way Crysis already looks at least as good as that maxed out. Admittedly a home PC wouldn't be able to handle the full zoomed out City view though, so I'll give you that much.
Are people really so eager to see the demise of call of duty that they fail to realise that it has actually fallen much less than the gaming market overall? The gaming market has fallen about 25% from the start of this year to now compared with the year earlier, so a 4% fall in Call of Duty sales means it actually has fairly strong relative growth compared to the market as a whole. So people aren't replacing CoD with another game, they simply aren't buying games for consoles at the sa...
Yeah, fancy someone coming gin after Crytek built a game engine, sorted an art style, built the assets, designed textures, sorted the lighting placement and levels out etc etc, and then this guy takes the textures Crytek made and then builds some higher Res textures that look the same.
Fancy that, how could that ever happen?
What are you saying, that Crytek should craft every texture so that it literally can't be improved or they are a failure?
I can't really complain about online passes or DLC making gaming a chore as I don't really care much a bout them. However, it has been 2 1/2 months since I even booted up my PS3 and even longer since. I actually enjoyed a game on it. Either I have grown out of games, or as I suspect games have become far to stale ans unimaginative. The last 2 games I played on PS3 were Arkham City and Uncharted 3, both high daybed games. Yet I was left thoroughly bored by booth of them, they just don&...
Why would now be a good time to sell stock? CryEngine is just now starting to gain some market penetration, it will soon be mobile and web browser native, they have a close connection with Microsoft, they are launching they're own gaming social network, they're large array of studios are now starting to pump out games with at least 2 games this year and a new announcement coming in the next few weeks plus another already announced game, and they've still never made a game that was...
Both of your analogies are inaccurate, although dericb11's is more accurate.
Dericb11's is not entirely accurate because that drink is finite, they aren't offering you unlimited drinks like a game offers you theoretically unlimited play.
Soldierones analogy is innacurate because it forgets that mcdonalds, the analogous to the developer/publisher of a game IS providing the second hand user a service, that service comes in the form of connection to ...
In some cases definitely, I didn't enjoy UC2 at all because Sony released about 2 hours of footage containing all of the big moments.
