i played crysis on my g8800 back when the game released at high graphics 1080p.
gpus have become far to powerful now.. you just have to reseearch and see, a 4890 now comes for 170usd that thing could easily play crysis at 1080p. who doesnt have a 2yr old pc laying around btw? heres a hint almost everyone posting here does.
now adays it can be done very cheaply.
and why only talk about crysis.. we know that game is cutt...
laptops arent ment for gaming.. unless you get a gaming laptop..
which is a luxury product to be honest.. any of those will cost you around 1400usd.. but sure will out perform any console.
you could get a desktop pc for 500usd.. that will play all your games.. and at a cheaper price then the consoles.

umm pc gets all the multiplats some even more then the ps3
left4dead 2, masseffect 2, splinter cell etc just to name afew
besides multiplatform games just are cheaper on the pc.
why pay microsoft or sony extra for lower res games?

well yea.. it was the fanboisim from the xbox community that helped start this trend.
agreed ppl should stop paying for dlcs which come right at the launch of a game.. just makes the situation worse.

sky is the limit when you go on pc rigs.. you could have a rig for 2500usd equipped with ssds.. and you could still go for more.. but thats not the point.

the pc i linked has a crossfire gpu on it.. it would play any game better then a console can for the rest of the generation FACT, i know it hurts.

even if the pc cost 800usd which is quite high.. its still on par with the xbox in terms of pricing.

ps3 controller can be used on the pc as well.
no point paying more for the game then receiving a copy that you cant mod and will be lower resolution/tex compared to pc version.

i currently have a 4870x2... though i think even your g9800 should handle the game at 1600p (should do about 40fps atleast) provided it has 1gb of memory. anyways 1080p should be a piece of cake for your gpu ;-)
ill be getting the pc version.
and play it at super HD aka 1600p muahahaha, 60fps+ :P

ps3 is in the same boat as the 360.
though it does have some good exclusives thats where it all ends.
both are expensive as gaming systems and to be honest not really HD machines. gotta wait till next gen for that.
well in the end what you will have is sony and microsoft with their latest consoles.
they will charge all the devs... which will inturn drive up costs for the gamers. note the price increase from 49 to 59usd. Without much advances in the pcgaming sector who knows next gen they may decide to bump the price to 69usd and there will be nothing anyone can do about it..
the gaming industry will be a monopoly between microsoft and sony.
imo in their greed to get console busines nvidia & ati shot themselves in the foot.
consoles must have sold what? 25million ps3s, 30million xboxes.
this is a very small quantity for these large companies.
now that consoles are the focus of developers advances in graphics are not possible the way they used to be before.
which means even pc users (which was the bulk of nvidia ati business) they do not need upgrades.

next xbox will probably be based on x86.
it will probably have a built in OS like windows (but much lighter). which will allow ppl to work and play. will have full mouse and keyboard support as well
it will become even more pc like then it currently is. imo thats my prediction. I predict pretty much the same for the ps4, though ps4 may still use the cell, however mouse and keyboard support along with an OS looks certain to me.

Sony or microsoft for that matter will have you belive their systems are the best. They end up hyping their products to no end.
in truth both of them are underpowered machines. Sure ps3 has some good exclusives (microsoft cant even claim that... most of the games on the 360 are multiplatform).
in the end both of them underperform on multiplatform titles and charge more for it. Imo in the gamers interest it is to pressure s...

if its good then the pc version is a bargain.
imo such deals from steam should be taken advantage of, it will pressure micro & sony to rethink their pricing policies.. which is better for us the gamer.

oh sure i agree consoles have alot going for them now.. to be more specific the ps3 due to all the good exclusives it has.. i dont think the 360 has much good exclusives.
imo 360 is just an underpowered 3 yr old pc, even going online is charged lol. if anyone wants to play consoles ps3 is the real deal then.
however 3d has now come to a point where graphics getting any better is very costly for any developer, hense even constant upgrade...
