Just to reiterate... I can't agree more with this.
I ♥ MGS4.
Hooked on ebonics?
Sorry, but what you have said in your post shows how you yourself have not played the game. Even the most devout fanboy of the other console would agree, this game is worth the price of admission and is truly a great title for this generation.
I would say that this is less about a differing opinion and more about a review that was written with no basis for such disgruntled criticism. They have obviously never played the other games which places their review in the "I don't know what I am talking about" category. You can have a differing opinion of something, but I would say that you (the reviewer) owe it to your audience to at least know what you are reviewing rather than ranting about sporadic details far and few between...
Only 12 hours in, I can safely say that the game is truly a masterpiece of epic proportions. Nuf said.
As much as I do Off Road Buggies and Dirt Bikes. This game seems to be the cross platform answer to MS2 but it is not anything like Motorstorm 2. I like some ATV games but can't seem to shake the desire to get back to Motorstorm and I cannot wait to get into MS2!
Little Big Planet
Killzone 2
Resistance 2
Resident Evil 5
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
PixelJunk Monsters Encore
These were the ones I want to have badly. Sadly enough though, Killzone 2 is now a 2k9 game as well as RE5. Furthering my lust for gaming ont he PS3 however will be:
Wipeout HD
SOCOM: Confrontation
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Dead Space
Fallout 3
Project...
As a rule of thumb, it is safe to say that any game these days requires a sale of about 1 million copies in order to break even or make a profit. Budgets on the games these days runs high. Also, we typically see possibilities for sequels when a game hits a million sold. It seems that a million is the magic number for games these days to make things happen further down the road and to be considered successful.
Here's my take on the way the sales for this game will go. Many of the more casual MGS fans of last gen didn't buy MGS3 due to it not being a game released on a new system. Since many of them saw a MGS on the PS2, they were not expecting anything great. Also, with the slight let down of MGS2 not being completely Snake and more Raiden, they figured on other games and skipped over MGS3.
Now we have a new console with more power to play with and Kojima admitting to this being his...
This game is not a game at all... It is an experience and even that is saying too little. MGS4 is by far the best game I have ever played and I have played hundreds of them. Thanks Kojima, for making something that will never be forgotten.
It's the industry that is saying otherwise. There are millions of folks that buy games for personal enjoyment and the one thing that I have resented lately is that it is the industry that is pushing online play for everybody. They need to recognize that games like Bioshock, Uncharted and many more are there for those of us that want a decent romp through a single player campaign and that these games are still worth their weight in gold. Kevin seems to be one of those that appreciates this and...
It's not a world wide launch. Considering they are releasing it ont he 360 first and with the dismal sales of the 360 in Japan, the Japanese folks will have to wait until SE releases it on the PS3. I have no idea why they decided to go this route but whatever I guess. Seems like Square is trying to help MS sell consoles in Japan perhaps... Sadly to say, it won't work.
If it does that well in Japan, what is there to say about NA and Europe? This game was said to be big but this is nearly EPIC!
Gimmicks like this are simply stupid. What is it? They can't sell the Wii Fit without some nudity now? Sorry, but sales would say otherwise.
Didn't Polyphony Digital state that they will have over 600 cars with damage for the full version of GT5 and have it all on one disc? Woudn't swapping discs after a race or two get old? I just wonder if it will be like the way Tiger Woods was on the Game Cube...
I too cannot shake the game from my thoughts at the moment. Cannot wait to get home to play it more!
Bubbles!
It all comes down to console preference (i.e. Controller preference, reliability and online price).
You find his comment about liking the PS3 controller better questionable because of his user name? Wow, and this coming from a guy with the number 360 in his user name... What, a fanboy calling another fanboy to the carpet here? lol
I like the PS3 controller better than the 360 as well, but do you find my comment more questionable? I have no PS3 related terms in my user name...
You will give up hours of your life to the god that is Metal Gear Solid 4. lol
The game is just awesome.
I was going to say the same thing. It took me a minute to hook my PC up tot he PS3 and have loved it since. Music, mocies and other goodies, streamed from my PC. The PS3 is a great media hub if you ask me and it all comes with any PC, not a Media Center PC. You don't even want to get me started ont he PS3 to PSP play. Remote play is awesome.
A lesser game making fun of a great game. Kinda like Weird Al making fun of some of the great song writers. lol
