Yet "plot armor" would have been fine for Joel.

Except that the story narrative that you've opposed since before June 19 (release) has nothing to do with this topic.

I'm not one of those guys who likes to police discussions and tell people they're off topic; that sort of thing I actually find to be obnoxious in most cases. Overly rigid topic adherence is mostly unreasonable and it constrains discussion.

But, how is what you're doing at this point anything other than trolling?

Agreed.

I also really enjoyed comic relief that Abby supplied with her persistent fear of heights throughout the game.

Lev's advice of "True Strength" and her repeating it had me genuinely laughing for the first time. Not to mention I really enjoyed that entire 'sky' section.

I'm very eager to play this game. Not just to see what it's about, but also to finally play something from Sucker Punch that isn't Infamous. Right now I'm a pretty big fan of these guys; I loved Infamous 2 and I thought Second Son was also pretty good.

I'm really looking forward to getting into this world, the map, the characters, the combat; all of it.

I wish he'd do a better job actually supporting his opinion, but he still has every right to come here, every single time, to speak his mind.

Believe me, I hear you, but he's not actually being a jerk to anyone. He's redundant, sure, but again, he has every right to come in here and repeat himself if he's so inclined.

I'm frankly glad to hear that this architecture will help with open world games. How is this anything other than a good thing?

I want both consoles to be very capable, because I plan on owning both of them.

I don't basically agree with anything.

I don't think "hubris" is quite the word you're looking for here; especially after reading what Corey and other SMS employees have said about Ascension's relative failure, and how they arrived at the new God of War. Your charge of "hubris" isn't quite fair.

So, you proceeded to ignore the rest of my "wall of text" because you don't feel confident enough to acknowl...

@MWH

None of his arguments are particularly thoughtful nor are they in any way constructive. You only favor them because they happen to coincide with your opinion.

I look at all arguments opposing and agreeable and none of his are constructive; they all fit a my-way-or-the-high-way pattern - this is this and that is that. He doesn't take anything into account but his own, often uninformed views.

Anyone who states "You just can...

Buddy, he's wrong, but not for that reason. People can in fact oppose this game without being Xbox fanboys. It's a thing, believe or not.

There are people who disagree with the game that aren't Xbox fanboys. Some people just don't like it; doesn't mean they're an Xbox fanboy.

Just stop.

It's Straley, and he co-directed. Again, he didn't write. At this point you're just here to oppose, but you don't bring facts or insight, you just keep complaining that you don't like the narrative. Cool, man.

What upheaval? Lol. Don't tell me you're going to go on some nonsense Amy Hennig/Straley forced out-dysfunction narrative. Hubris? What do you actually know about the internal goings-on of SMS? Nothing at all. You can't actually corrobo...

Yep.

Loved it all the way through.

I agree; they wanted Joel and Ellie dream team, ice cream and high fives. Didn't get it. Didn't happen. Now they're mad because the story didn't comport with their safe ideals.

They didn't get their feel-good narrative and they're mad. Boo-hoo.

I really enjoyed Abby and Lev, as well as Abby's fear of heights; a theme which persisted throughout the entire game and supplied some comic relief.

2183d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Agreed.

The foundation of most people's disagreement is Abby's existence and having to play as Abby after she kills a beloved character.

Now that I've played the game twice over I was ready to see why Angry Joe and others like him disagreed with it. The Joe Team's disagreement boiled down to mainly two things; Joel's death, and Neil "failing to make Abby likable" as a character, though that didn't preclude them from enjoy...

I don't find the fact odd or unsettling, but everyone is getting involved in everything these days.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if McDonald's or Macy's started reviewing games. I'd have a good laugh but I wouldn't be shocked.

While it's definitely unusual to contact a reviewer after a review to discuss said review, I think it's fine so long as Sony doesn't attempt to sway or threaten the reviewer in any way.

Harmless inquiry, disagreement, and discussion are just fine.

Honestly, for me, it's just going to come down to whatever version is available and when. I just want a PS5 as soon as possible, and whatever's available is what I'll snag.

I'd have no problem with a 'digital only' edition as I've basically transitioned to digital this gen anyway.

Well, I've come to the conclusion that Polygon's aim is to be contrarian, no matter what. You could actively try to appease Polygon and they'd still take issue with something. You could check all their boxes and it wouldn't matter.

I had the complete opposite experience while I was in Japan. It probably varies from person to person, but the Japanese who could speak English were eager to do so with me, even if they weren't very good at it.
