I generally agree with green, Oz and Siligon.
Whilst I think E3 is more important to the hardcore, the real key for the larger console war is going to be what MS or Sony announce for the much larger casual mass market. Whether that comes in the form of new online content and services, motion controls, casual titles or bundles/hardware I don't know, but significant announcements could change the game completely.
In regards to price competition I acknowledge crck's com...
That's exactly what the PS2 did. Or did you forget? lol
Yeah gamers are really being spoilt this year! There's too many good ones to choose from! :)
Good picks! I can't believe I missed MadWorld - that looks bloodier than NG2 and Gears2 combined! And Deus Ex 3 would be awesome if it ignores 2. :)
As for Banjo I can assure you it's very much still Banjo, there's a change in the way you platform, but it's still a platformer with wacky humour, a crazy story, art design and lots and lots of collectibles. I'm an old school fan, and I love what I've seen so far. And as explained above, LBP and Banjo are actually very different beas...
I can understand where you're coming from in regards to Mistwalker and God of War 3, because they are very much acquire tastes. And damn Molyneux makes my head spin everytime he hints at what Dimitri actually is. But I'll have to pull you up on the following bit
"Banjo Kazooie got quite negative previews, as far as i remember"
The previews were exemplary, but it was the old nostalgic fans and N4G trolls that sought to change that perception. I'll give you a...
I agree Close Second. The game looks promising and I'm not ruling it out. The new website is particularly ace.
You do realise NPD is an estimate as well?!
The difference is that in America it bases it on approximately 60% of retailers where VGChartz uses less than a 5% sample for early analysis and weights more heavily on other factors such as shipping numbers, past sales results and internet hype. VGChartz then amends their numbers after NPD is released to broaden their sample and better reflect analytical estimates.
Up front NPD is a much better estimate. But it's by no mea...
Yeah but it's also a subtle way of saying "no price cuts this year, we need to turn a profit first".
360
1) Banjo Kazooie
I don't know what to think of this game yet, but given the positive previews and interesting concept of reinventing the platformer as a genre (using user generated powers) I very interested to see more.
2) Halo Chronicles
I want to know what Peter Jackson's been up to and whether it's going to do what the MS ads said Halo 3 would!
3) Too Human
I suspect it's going to be good... But I want to hear people raving about...
This game is fantastic and PLAY, unlike some other reviewer's have reviewed it for what it is. Essentially a new IP for consoles, and not as some others have as a port/sequel to the PC versions.
Easily the best console strategy title and worth a 9/10 in my books. I've been playing it all week. :)
I can;t believe Oz will actually have them all. How much is that all up?
Completely agree mate which is why MGS is so polarising amongst gamers.
As an experience it's a 10, as a game not so much. :)
I wasn't! Denis Dyack was! lol
Eternal Darkness was my favourite game of last gen. :)
I'm sorry but everytime someone says they hate the cutscenes in MGS the standard reply is you can skip them. Metal Gear without the cutscenes is like a hamburger without the meat! There's no bloody point without it!
You either dig the cutscenes and love MGS, or despise the cutscenes and hate MGS! Simple. Each to their own. But can we stop pretending that having skippable cut scenes is a legitimate way to defend them, because the value of MGS ceases to exist without them!
Your so spot on mate. I've been playing it for a week now and it's easily the best console strategy title I've ever played. They're reviewing it like it's a sequel orport when really it's essentially a new ip.
Games last anywhere from 4-8hrs instead of 1-2weeks, there are a heap of game modes, online leaderboads, collectibles for your trophy room, new weekly challenges/maps/scenarios and three multiplayer modes - head to head, two on two, and every man for himself. I'm on the 360...
He wasn't dissing MGS4 at all he was merely answering an IGN question regarding the story and used it's storytelling methods as a contrast to what will be seen in Gears 2 - essentially implying more interactive storytelling/scenes rather than the "passive" MGS4 cutscenes for players to watch.
You can read the full interview/hands on @ IGN here http://au.xbox360.ign.com/a...

Sorry but Solid may have had his last, but MGS certainly hasn't. ;)
Please link all such previews please. All the ones where journalist have had more than 15 minutes have been overwhelmingly positive since its showing at GDC 08.
The guy has gone to the wildest of gaming forums and started a thread that stakes his entire game and reputation on the line publicly before any gamers actually play it.
That's not desperation, that's a whole lot of cojones and a truckload of confidence! ;p
I think the key point of GoD tattoo's deliberately provocative post was that other than MGS4 (and I'd add Uncharted, Warhawk and Motorstorm) there's nothing there that the 360 doesn't have and generally does better in terms of games at the moment.
Whilst the future may be different and is a reason for GoD to hold onto his PS3, regarding the current situation you admit as much yourself with an argument that essentially is "we've got MGS4... but I promise there's heaps of cool...
